Well here goes guys, tell me what you think of it...* means that I don't know what to go with...

    Sager NP9260

    WUXGA or WSXGA*
    2 gigs of RAM
    200 gig Hitachi Travelstar 7200 RPM or 80 gig 5400 RPM x 3 Raid 5 *
    3 year warranty
E6420 core 2 duo 2.13 ghz (question:will this be faster then my T7500? I would think so since it has a higher FSB...)
    1 x 7950 gtx

once I return my Sager NP5790, I should be paying around 258 dollars for the difference, =)

go with the WSXGA. the WUXGA is overkill for a 17" screen. fonts are too small and it makes internet surfing and word processing documents too dificult. it will really put eye strain as you squint at websites all day long, for example.

for your hdd setup i would go with this; assuming you are ordering it off sager's price sheet, have raid 0 on the first two hard drives and put the 160 gig 5400 rpm versions in there. this gives you a 320 gig storage and will be faster than the 200 gig 7200 drive because of raid 0. then, have the 3rd hard drive as seperate with the 100 gig 7200 rpm version in there for data backup of sensitive files like saved games and work files, etc., in case the raid array fails. so in total this gives you 420 gigs of storage or 320 gigs with 100 gigs of data backup. this setup will cost you the same as only having the 200 gig 7200 rpm in there.

yes the faster fsb of the 9260 will result in an overal faster machine than the 5790.

chief, will you be upgrading to dual GPU's later? because if not, why the heck buy "The Most Powerful Notebook On Earth" and crippling it with only one GPU? You gotta go SLi, chief. that's the whole point of owning a D900C/9260.

The E6600 2.4GHz is a sweeter processor IMO. And it's only $60 bucks more at XoticPC.

I am going SLI later, indeed...

EDIT: The WUXGA screen isn't a bother to me at all...

also...ARGH...that HDD setup is more expensive then the 200 gig HDD by 100-200 dollars...xoticpc.com

    Three x 100GB 7200RPM SATA-150 is $375 at xoticpc. That ain't too bad.

WUXGA - resolution this high, you barely need any AA...imo evens out the fps loss for having a higher res.

2gb ram - ok for XP...i would higher for vista

200gb..i got 1x160gb 7200rpm for now, i plan on adding 2 hdd for RAID 0 in the future, but im not sure on the size yet

i have the same processor, and it is plenty fast. (i think it will be faster regardless of the FSB since it is a desktop processor compared to a notebook processor....i *think* it would be...)

7950GTX is great for now, but SLI for later, or even upgrade if possible to the next tier of GPUs when available.

    overall, not a bad config...

side note: how come you got rid of the 5790?

definitely would recommend WUXGA for that beast.

    - its future proof (for 1080p) and give a lot of workspace.
    - loss in gaming FPS.... is negligible with a high-end videocard like 7950GTX

If you thought the fan's on your previous lappy was too loud, then your probably going to be disapointed in your new one. I don't mind the fans on my D901C at maximum, but if your hearing is that sensitive then it will more than likely bother you. :(

I think lawlz might not have experience with high-end gaming notebook fans...

that or his 5790 had a defective fan (loose or something)

These new Clevo's are not noisy... the sound is very constant and not annoying at all.... and not noticeable especially during gaming.

I agree to ME they aren't noisy. But he may have sensitive ears... Good luck man is all I can say. I don't find my D901C to be noisy at all. The Hitachi HDD's are quiet, no CPU whine and even with fans on maximum it's not bad.

my fans whine quite a lot...that 2nd fan kicks him a lot longer then it's supposed to...

I have experience with very loud desktop fans...and I mean very loud...
