    Hi everyone,

Just a quick question: I've ordered my NP9261 (WooHoo) and I just want to confirm if I have to pre-install RAID drivers if I'm installing Windows Vista x64. I ordered it without an OS, so once I get it, can I just set up the RAID 0 array using the intel matrix storage manager utility, without having to do an "f6" installation of the drivers before installing Vista. I know in XP you need to do the "f6" install, but I'm not too sure about Vista.

Any 9260/1 owners mind advising how you've gone ahead and set up RAID on your rigs?

The RAID drivers are on the Driver CD for Vista, and the user manual is pretty firm about installing them prior to the OS (including Vista) install.

Haven't set RAID up in Vista myself, but if I did I'd sure install the drivers as recommended (i.e. first).

The manual states to create your RAID array, install the OS as normal, which in vista's case does not need a raid driver to be loaded prior to installing, then after the OS is installed to install all the drivers and to make sure you install the Intel Matrix driver.

Here's a snip from the manual.

    11. Select 4.Exit and press Enter, then press Y to exit the RAID configuration menu.
    12. As the computer starts up, press a key when you see the message "Press any
    key to boot from CD".
    13. Press Enter to continue installing the operating system as normal (see your
Windows documentation if you need help on installing the Windows OS).
    14. Install the Windows drivers from the Device Drivers & Utilities + User’s Manual
CD-ROM (Win Vista) as per Table 4 - 1, on page 4 - 3 ( make sure you install the
    Intel Matrix driver
    - see “Intel Matrix Driver Installation” on page 7 - 7)

Hi SpinyNorman thanks for the tip. I went out to buy the USB floppy and I thought I need it for the Vista. Also Hawk375 what is the Intel Matrix Driver use for do I have to install to work?

the driver is so that windows can take advantage of the RAID configuration and it includes software to view the status of the array.
