Hi all,
I have been considering getting the 9262 but am a bit worried about how much heat it puts out since it's a powerful quad-core.
Has hot exhaust been a problem for anyone? I know the 5793 is noisy, but excess heat around my desk is something I'd like to avoid even more.
I currently have an old Dell inspiron 5100 (gasp!!!) that has a single p4. Man, that thing could fry an egg (and even some ham) with it's exhaust.
Does anyone know how the two might compare? I really don't want anything hotter, except in specs!
Thanks for any input on this!

You are probably better off without the quad-core.

that's false info buddy.
they released new q6600's that are lower wattage and the there was a mobo ugprade for quad cores.
lots of people have quad core now. and they aren't that HOT Clevo has a very good design for cooling
here is a real quad core review. and will let you know what to expect vs heat and whatnot.

Quote from chazs review:
"It is assumed that the Sager NP9260 runs hot and loud by many. However, this is simply not the truth. Even with two of the most powerful video cards available for notebooks, a desktop processor, and four large-diameter fans, the NP9260 runs surprisingly cool and quiet. The only audible sounds are the soft rushes of air flowing out of the back of the notebook (which is essentially all vents). There is no real fan motor noise. The air coming out of the back is definitely warm but not flaming hot as might be expected. Even at full tilt, while the fans spin faster the noise level is not significantly increased. Those four fans push a lot of air – while standing behind the notebook I could feel a warm breeze, even 5 feet away. The NP9260 will be a nice companion in the wintertime." -
My 9261 CPU temp is 58C-60C idle and 66C-68C full load. When I put fans on full throttle the idle temp drops to 48C and 54C full load. Hope that gives you an idea of how cool this laptop really is!

I love my 9262 and although i use the cooler listed in my sig, as its always a good idea to use a notebook cooler to prolong the life of any laptop. Even under full loads and without the cooler my 9262 does not get that hot to the touch (previous posters already posted temps). I thought the 5793 I had for a week before exchanging to the 9262 actually got hotter to the touch than my new 9262. Having said that i think the 9262 is very good at venting the heat out and if your sitting in front of me when im gaming you may get a bit warm. But the same goes for you sitting with your back to my desktop. LOL. As far as noise from the fans? I thought the 5793 i had was louder and ran the fans on full speed more often under the same load conditions than my 9262 does. I have yet to hear my fans turn on at full speed unless i manually toggle them on Fn+1.
