I got my 9262 from xoticpc a few days back, which I'm very happy with. I'm new to benchmarking, so any suggestions are appreciated. I installed the new 177.92 driver from laptopvideo2go. A member on their site modded the inf. file specificly for Clevo's (big thanx to Dox). He modded the inf file not to get better 3dmark06 scores, but for actual gameplay improvements. My 3dmark06 score dropped 300 points (142xx to 139xx), but my in game framerates improved. I myself am more concerned with gameplay rather than 3dmark06. I ran a series of Crysis benchmarks on 3 different resolutions, 1400x900, 1680x1050, and 1900x1200. On each resolution I ran it once on all high settings and once on all very high settings. My specs are in my signature below. Not sure if these benchmarks are all that great, but they are an improvement to my previous drivers. I have the screenshots of all the scores, but I dont know how to put them in this thread when it asks me to enter the URL of my images. Heres what I got until I find out how to post the images.

EDIT: Dox's modded clevo inf for 177.92 http://www.laptopvideo2go.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=19675&st=0 ... Im running vista 64

so if i compare this to Ikas's results, turns out that CPU has a bigger role in Crysis then we thought...

    Goof marks!

It seams that indeed it does. The premiss that the CPU did little in Crysis turn out to be wrong.

Wow so these are good scores? Yes this is with sli enabled kobe 24. I have all of the screen shots of the scores if you guys want me to post them. Im not sure how to upload them though. Any help on posting pics would be appreciated. I can do some more runs on whatever settings you guys want, so just let me know.

Who needs 3dmark scores anyways.... as long as the games perform well. :)

Your scores are good but not fab. Here is what is achieved with the 8800M GTX SLi.

    http://www.notebookreview.com/default.asp?newsId=4392

I'm indeed puzzled how IKEAS got those scores. I guess either the tests were done wrongly, or the combo Q9660 + 9800M GTX in SLi is giving a boost of ~13 FPS.

SLI seems to make a huge difference, nice scores!

1680x1050 is really a nice resolution to play at, and you guys seem to get great FPS using that resolution.

I disabled windows aero and sidebar. My nvidia settings are on performance mode. My power settings are on performance mode. Also my antivirus software is disabled. Are there any other resource hogs that I can disable to get better numbers? If so how do I disable them?

EDIT: I have Unreal Tournement III - How do I run that benchmark??

Try the Vista tweaks at blackviper dot com

It should give you a little boost, and may reduce some heat. As with everything, YMMV!

Trance if im not mistaken IKEAS has Q9650 and 9800GT SLI,so it all comes to cpu or maybe his O/S or even any o/c he prob made on those 9800GT 's, to be honest i believe his scores, like i believe that if i pass my machine to Dexco for a week he will be able to cut the 15k 3dmarks limit like cheese^^.

I didnt post my 3dmark06 score because they dropped after the new graphics driver. In game framerates improved, but the 3dmark06 scores dropped. When I was using the 177.79 drivers I got a 14232. Edit: Score in my signature.

Quad 9650 3Dmark06 scores.Nvidia control panel in performance, 177.92 drivers.
    Fresh Run
For some reason when I updated the new drivers it got rid of my 9800M GT's in GPU-Z and now just says 9800 GT.....

    Rossdaddy,

Your Crysis scores seem about right for Vista. I was especially impressed by the very high minimum FPS (16-17 FPS) yielded by this driver in the 1920x1200 run.

The CPU has a big effect on total 3DMark06 TOTAL scores (not so much on GRAPHIC scores), but doesn't influence Crysis scores much. If you monitor CPU usage during a Crysis benchmark run you'll see that the CPU isn't awfully busy.

Thanx wobble. The minimum FPS is why im going to probably stick with this driver for a while. I had used other drivers that had faster framerates, but occasionally the framerates would stutter. When I'm in a intense battle in Crysis I know things will stay pretty steady. : )

The NP9262 is an absolute monster in terms of performance. I was impressed with the review unit I received in April.

Maybe you need to use a good uninstaller, and do a complete uninstall of that program (Crysis)? Then, just reinstall it.

I have trouble running Crysis. The frame rates are very low even though i have a q9550 cpu and 2 9800gt's in sli. I try running it on all high settings at 1600x1024 with no anti-aliasing. I just got the laptop recently and have not made many changes to it. Can someone please tell me why my laptop is not performing up to par and suggest ways to improve?

first thing first monitor you clocking during the game, GPU-Z or rivatuner. and it's not running at 500/1250/800 then switch drivers, that should fix the problem.

    Ouch.
First off, raise the back of the laptop a bit by putting something under it, WITHOUT blocking the fans/vents. Like a little ramp, either a book , or some dvd cases, etc. Golden rule.

    2) check with GPU-Z if the GPUs stay at their designated frequencies... ( 500/1250/800)
    3) if temps are in the 90s, contact your supplier, that`s BAD.
My XPSs' 8800M GTXs do NOT see temps over 78C, which is what SLI 88M GTX / 98M GTs should be having with the proper cooling that the xps / 9262 have...

What temp? CPU? One GPU? Both GPUs?

When running Crysis you should get GPU temps in the mid-seventies with normal fans, and in the mid-sixties with high fans, without having to prop the machine up on anything. The CPU shouldn't get hot enough to worry about.

You might check to see if all the fans are spinning... one or more might be disconnected. Beyond this, you should contact your vendor and solve the heat problem before you address the frame rate issue.

BTW... "NVTray" is a handy tool to use during games. It shows FPS, GPU clocks, and GPU temps.

i have had 2 identicle spec 9262's with me and they both ran 90c when running crysis. it is actually "normal". if you don't want to see 90c you can simply run max fans.

at wsxga you should be averaging 35 fps in sli so run the internal crysis benchmark tool and see if that's true.

    Rossdaddy,

glad the inf/driver is workin well for you :D
your right 3dmark isnt everything ;)

unfortunately ive dropped vista support for my clevo infs due to having no machine to test on anymore.

If you/anyone would like to beta test the latest INF PM me.

Lots of additions have been added and generally its been optimised.
Its ready but not been tested so I wont be releasing it until it has.

so whats new since the last INF?
[*]Removed odd resolutions, left in most common ones
    [*]Better "tweak code"
[*]Physx will install on supported cards
[*]Similar configuration to clevo's default inf but more optimised (improves stability and compatibility with the gpu?)

so if anyone's interested let me know :) (vista x64/x86)

Might be "normal", but it`s not safe.
And most 9262 users report temps BELOW 85C at all times.
So I would think you`re in a very hot environment...in which case, a cooler would not really help...

nope, in a cool environment. only crysis brings temps that high as i don't recal other games bringing so much heat.

normal or not i don't care as i got the 3 year warranty on this sli rig and others should too.

There was a calender sitting under the laptop which seems to have been the cause of the high gpu temps bc i moved it and now temps are staying in the low 80s while playing crysis. The internal crysis benchmark does say i am getting an average of around 35fps but it seems more choppy while playing.

Hey guys, I dont want to create a new thread about this but how and what drives should I install? I use the official Sager drivers that came with my laptop, but COD4 at 1920x1200 with 4xaa and 16xAA goes in very huge moments just little above that magic 60fps so I think a new driver should fix that issue. When I install the new drivers, should I uninstall the older ones first?? What about laptop2go drivers? which drivers do u recommend?

your rig is fine. what you are experiencing is called "micro stutter" due to sli. nothing you can do about that for now. what happens is that the frames are not synching up correctly and causing lag in between. i know it sucks. i don't know if this occurs in every game but it does happen with crysis. it almsot defeats the sli gains since it looks like 17 frames per second despite the fps meter displaying 33 frames per second.

I just recently got my 9262 and use 179.92 drivers with no problems using Sli.
Bioshock, Gears of War, and Crysis all play stutter free so far using Vista 64.

I just uninstalled the old drivers from the control panel, just make sure to download the new drivers first with the modded info.Unfortunately you have to add the modded to the drivers.
Just download them both to your desktop.
Follow the instructions for the have disk method, for me it took me a little while because I'm pretty new to all this stuff but it's fairly simple.
If i can do it anybody can.Use the quick start guide.
