Placed an order Sunday night for this:

    Q9550
    2 8800mGTX SLI
    2x 200GB 7200rpm
    4GB ram

I am leaving for vacation for a week next weekend and they told me they would do their best to have it to me by then. I purchased overnight shipping in the hope that they might get it out by Thursday (im only a state over)

Overall im really looking forward to getting my hands on this. I have been waiting for the Q9550 for a little over a month now and hopefully it's worth it. Im getting ready to upgrade my desktop within the next month with a Q9550 as well ... kind of cool having a laptop with the same processor.

    Concerns?

LCD screen- This is a concern. Im pretty nitpicky about LCD's and the lack of "brightness" I have read about is concerning. I will be using the lappy in my car a lot and it's a must that is has at least average brightness. If it isn't bright enough it will be going back and I will be getting the M1730 which has from what I have read a brighter screen. I really don't want to get the M1730 though because im keeping this at least 3 years and really wanted a quad.

8800mGTX and 9800m- Not really concerened here. Despite what some are saying I doubt we see the 9800m until Fall and I need this laptop now. Even if we do see it earlier if the desktop cards are any clue the 8/9 series is very little difference. If we do see it within my 30 day window i'll try to work with them and send it back for the new cards price difference. XoticPC seems like a great company so I doubt this would be a big issue.

I should have a pretty in-depth review up once I get it and can play with it for a few days.

Good luck man. That's a sweet machine. Also, I firmly believe you will get it before you leave. :) Just don't open it and ruin it like I did. :p

Man... I am really contemplating on replacing my D900K with a 8800M GTX rig... but I do not want to spend the cash yet.

Congrats on the new rig BTW. :D

    :)
My 7950GTX is obsolete, but still deserves credit for lasting so long.
A new era of the 8800MGTX is getting at its end too, if the 9800M GTX and ATI (secret card name) will indeed do what they`re supose to in order to be better.

Having read upon the GT280 I almost choked.
    o_O
Those cards will kill, a desktop would be so much cheaper with one now...grrrrrr

But a GT280 will be somewhat better than a 8800M GTX SLI, by a little.
So 8800M GTX SLI = the fastest rig for laptops.

Congrats on purchasing the fastest laptop on the planet.(officially)

I think you're right, but since today (actually, yesterday, now) is(was) Tuesday, I thought it made more sense if I abstracted it a little further - hence no accompanying graphic.

Don't laugh too hard; that might actually work in NYC or Tokyo for a one-bedroom or an efficiency.
