New cards are releasing soon so there are a couple of options.

    1. Wait a bit and see if you can grab a cheap 2nd 680M with heatsink and SLI cable.
    2. See if people get the new card working in the old machines and upgrade to it (not likely to be hugely cheap.

There is a 3rd slightly different option. With a bit of tweaking you can get an extra 40% out of the 680M with careful overclocking and tweaking.

Meaker basically got it down right. You won't be able to put in a newer card model (780M or anything later) without a custom system BIOS (usually from Prema), so if you're unwilling to do such a thing, you'll need to just try and work the 680M some more XD.

Alternately, SLI-ing that 680M should be nice, or waiting and seeing if 970Ms work in your machine would be a fantastic upgrade.

They don't really get sold retail. You can ask your reseller, they can often get a card and fit it for you, there is also ebay and the members market on these forums.

I don't think the 7xx or 8xx series cards will work. Funnily enough that does not rule out that a new series won't but it might not.

Not a problem, don't forget to ask for help if you choose an option.
