The heatsink uses paste for the core and pads to contact the Vram and voltage regulators as this is more efficient.

Your mileage may vary, but better compound is highly regarded. IC Diamond is one of the best ones you can go with that's also non-conductive.

So I would need both compound and pads?

I am not sure what to expect when they plan to send a GPU.

Yes, Alex said they can provide IC Diamond, but would I need thermal pads as well? If so, what kind?

He should also provide those on the new GPU in the correct arrangement... @Alex@XOTICPC ...

Well I got a shipping quote for if I were to send the laptop (if it weighs 3.9kg). It would cost me 6,800 JPY (Around 55 USD I think with conversions). I don't know if that weight is with a battery put into the laptop, but if I could send the laptop without the AC or battery I think it would be much easier for me to send it to them. It would be shipped by EMS (Express Mailing Service). Comes with tracking and would be delivered in 2 days I think.

However, what baffled me was when they quoted the shipping for a GPU, it would cost 89 USD to send to me... I don't understand why shipping that would be more costly then just shipping my laptop back to them when the laptop would be much heavier!

I think I would want to ship it, but I really hope they don't overcharge me shipping on the return. I plan to spend only 55 USD around for shipping to them! I expect around the same price I would hope?

I will trust Sager to do the repairs, but I want them to thoroughly test it so I don't have this problem (or any problems actually...). I would rather not have to pay shipping again to have it sent back for repairs!

Is your shipping insured? Most companies ensure parts are fully covered.

As far as I know, EMS has insurance up to 20,000 Yen or around 180 USD. I would have to add it. I don't think there was any fees though since the employee didn't calculate any additional price.

There will always be a fee for fully insuring the value of an item unless you are getting a high end service with it included.

Yes the thermal pads would be on there. On the quote we gave you to ship the GPU the insurance was included on that.

Double check and make sure EMS had it insured at that quote, on fedex and UPS insurance can be almost half of the quote :(
