Thought the 9750 owners might want to check this out.

It's a new boot startup splash screen after I did a BIOS update from Sager:

For you information: BIOS revision 1.00.05s and KBC version 1.00.02s5

Sure beats the "Sager" logo. Also, no light leakage from the WUXGA.

How did you go about getting this bios update?
I've never updated my bios before.
    How is that done?

Perhaps you should just write a dummy article for us all. :)

Ha...i'm done with the articles, but it's simple.

    1. Email Sager techsupport and request a BIOS update, make sure you send them your serial number for verification.
    2. They should email a zipped file containing a ISO file. Use NERO to burn the ISO as a bootable CD.
    3. Put the CD in and restart and it will happen automatically.

    Wallah.

Also anytime that you do a BIOS update, its a risky and important event so make sure you backed up all your important files before you start the process.

NEVER, ever do this in battery mode, always have the AC in and all the USB ports unplugged.

That's a great boot screen - and thanks for the great little guide on how to do it. ;)

I've failed a BIOS update before, and let me tell you . . Albsterama is absolutely right. AC ONLY! I had to send in my old notebook for repairs, that's the only way you can fix it. They do it with some special tools. It's not fun.

 "Do not try this at home" seems the best plan to me.

Are there benefits to the BIOS update besides the new boot screen?
Doesn't sound like it's worth the risk JUST for a new boot screen...
    what are the other improvement?

As per Sager Tech Support, the new BIOS supports the AMD FX-55/57/60 CPU and the single core AMD 35++. No other details were published.

Cool..! I knew Sager updated their BIOS for the FX-60 so I can do this upgrade now (c'mon newegg, drop those FX60 prices).

Sagebrush...i've done tons of BIOS updates on my Inspiron Dell 8200, 7500 and 7000 notebooks successfully and now the Sager. Its SAFE if you take the right percautions and follow the steps. Having said that, you may not need to do this update as your 9750 should be coming with the latest BIOS.

Well, received another BIOS patch from Sager Techsupport. The only detail it outlines is that "Clevo had made some adjustments to the cooling fans". I don't have the version numbers for the BIOS and KBC/KBS? numbers with me when i posted this (i'll update this Post later when I get home).

Before that note, after I applied the patch (how trusting am i to clevo updates! LOL), i thought i noticed the fans on a slightly higher rpm at idle. I mean its still relatively quiet.

BTW...that cool AMD X2 Athlon boot up splash page is gone, replaced by the Sager one.

    Oh dear and oh well.

If you feel you need the patch, please contact Sager Tech Support via the sagernotebooks.com website.

ive noticed after i updated my bios. i get weird sound static every so often, very intermittently. it doesn't make sense at all. its an interference sound. ill have pure sounding music then all of a sudden it will give static as if you were playing around with the sound cord pin. happens for no reason, doesn't matter if laptop is sitting idle, or being used.

i did not have this happen with the old bios.

i still have the SAGER logo.

Thats a nice splash. I got a D900K (OEM: Sager 9750) as well, but has no logo on POST or on the case. This is because I built it myself and got the chassis through Clevo (the notebooks true manufacturer).

I wouldnt mind having that AMD splash on my notebook, because it doesnt seem like the notebook was branded.

Anyway that someone and upload that ISO for the BIOS flash?

    Nice Post,
    -Gophn
