Alright, so I have had my Sager 9262 for about 6 months now without much issue. However, today, I went to burn a mix from iTunes to a CD, and I got error message 2131. I traced this to a problem with my TSSTcorp TSL6-32H CD/DVD RW drive firmware.

Now, ignoring the fact that I have to run iTunes in XP compatibility mode (thank you microsoft for making Vista such a wonderful OS), I went searching for a fix. It turns out that there is a firmware update put out by Dell, http://support.dell.com/support/downloads/download.aspx?c=us&l=en&s=gen&releaseid=R173097&SystemID=VOS_N_1700&servicetag=&os=WW1&osl=en&deviceid=14182&devlib=0&typecnt=0&vercnt=1&catid=-1&impid=-1&formatcnt=1&libid=32&fileid=235346

Now, my question is: If it's put out by Dell, will it still work for my 9262? or is there another fix?

firmware isn't drivers, it's on a chip on the drive itself, like a BIOS. The only way of reverting in case of problems is if he found a way of backing up the current firmware.

I say try the dell firmware. At the very worst you'll need to but a new optical drive

    hmm...
well, the reason I run it in XP mode is because when run in Vista mode, the iTunes window would come up all black with certain parts photo-negative. Never figured out a real fix.

Also, my computer refused to relay a software update to my iPod touch properly... instead, it forced it to permafreeze at the initial loading screen. This required a trip to the genius bar to fix.

so yeah, my sager and Apple stuff don't seem to like each other.
