I know that the NP2098 has the better graphics card, and so would be better for gaming than the other. However, the NP2098 is based on a Compal, which I have not heard very much of, and the NP7682 is based on a Clevo, which I know is a great ODM. So, my concern is that the NP7682, while having the inferior graphics card, would be better quality. Also, I really don't care about the difference in hard drive capacity. What do you think about Compal vs Clevo? About the two notebooks?
    Thanks in advance. :D

Compal is one of the biggest ODM in the world, they make laptops for DELL, HP and so on.
However, their build quality is not as good as that of Clevo.

If you want an even decent gaming experience, you'll buy the Compal-based notebook.

The G 105M is that weakness.

How long do you think either one would last? I need at least 3-4 years out of this.

I would go with the stronger video card with the 2098. Especially if you want it to last 4 years(gaming wise)...I haven't seen much about the 7682 around the boards so, I can't comment anything about them...Either nobody is buying it Or,It's a very good notebook and nobody is having any troubles with it....Look around you will find some reviews on it somewhere.

As far as lasting mechanically I can tell you that my Toshiba Satelite is 2 years old with the compal, and is doing just fine...But, It has an AMD Turion 64 X 2 tl-58 OC to 2.17 cpu with a weak X1200 ATI...So, I'm not generating too much heat...

I have the 9280 D900F on order now that will be my first Clevo...As far as Clevo's reputation on these forums, It looks like you (If you go with the 7682)or I would'nt have nothing to worry about.

Conclusion: I would pay the extra $5.00 and go with the NP2098

3 to 4 years of gaming? That's too much to ask from a 128-bit card like the 4650. You'll get two years, tops, imo.

Maybe waiting a month for the Asus K series, with the 4860 1GB GDDR5, would be the best decision for someone who's on a $1k budget.

By the K series, do you mean the K50 Series, which is already out?

Would you be able to give me a link to it? I cannot seem to find it within the ASUS website.
