    Hello,

Whenever I try and turn on my laptop I get an error message saying:

"Error sending End of Post message to ME."

    I have tried the following:

    Booting into the bios,
-changing the date from 03/10/2012 to 03/11/2012
-adjusting the time from 16:41:xx to 17:41:xx
-navigating to the "Exit" tab and selecting "Load Setup Defaults"
-pressing "F2" to load previous Values

I have also tried inserting the windows 7 cd (with the cd/dvd as primary boot device)

It seems no matter what, I only get this message. Before I shutdown my computer I was playing World of Warcraft. I did not download anything, install anything, or even adjust any settings whatsoever.

Try removing the CMOS battery with the main battery out and the AC adapter not plugged in. The error you are seeing is the "Ok to boot" message is NOT being received by the management engine (Which is part of the chipset) so its not allowing it to boot. If this does not work, then you will have to send it in for a RMA.

Thank you for the reply, that sounds kind of complicated. If Malibal had not been so quick to respond I definitely would give this a try, but since they did reply so fast I would rather be safe and just send it in for them to handle.

    Thanks again ^_^

If you look at the user manual, it tells you disassembly steps. Get a screwdriver and you could be done in 15mins or less :) unless you really wanna be without a laptop for a week or two lol

On second thought, I guess it couldn't hurt to give this a try before RMA'ing. I will post my results after I have attempted removing the CMOS battery. I am assuming you want me to take the CMOS battery out for maybe like 5 minutes... and then put it back in?

I have removed the CMOS Battery for 5+ minutes and put it back in, I am still getting the same error message. I guess I have no choice but to RMA now. :(

    What a pity, menace :(

Well, I hope your RMA is as quick and painless as possible.

I have a Sony Vaio z VPCZ117GG. about 4 years old, out of warranty. The problem appeared today suddenly.. I was watching a video on chromecast and the battery drained. problem seems to be with Intel hardware.

I get the "Error sending end of post message to ME" after a few minutes, fan running rapidly, then windows boots, but fan keeps running fast.
In device manager I have error for Intel Management Engine (code 10 device failed to start).

It has nothing to do with windows probably, because the message "Error sending end of post message to ME" appears even when booting from linux usb or CD or disconnecting the hard drive.

Has this been solved? Is it a hardware or software problem? Can this be solved by resetting some BIOS state using Windows?
