I am close to pulling the trigger on a Sager NP6165 / Clevo W150ER with matte screen (+75$), 3630qm (+70$), diamond putty (+25$), upgrade primary hd to 128 gb crucial m4 (+75$) for a grand total $1114. FYI this model comes with a 650M gt and 8gb ddr3 1600mhz. Further note these are USD prices from xoticpc and the base model price is $842. No Windows package for either config.

Now based on a fair amount of research where OPs advertised their paid price it seems the price point for this model is very comparable to its release a year ago!! In my mind, a year's worth of time should bring the price significantly ($150ish) lower. I'd greatly appreciate if some current owners who purchased in Q2 2012 compared their pricing to the stats above. I am hesitating at this point only because this does not feel like a deal...

    Thanks in advance,
    FLO

Do some cost comparisons with similarly spec'd out systems and come back with "this does not feel like a deal".

i am not comparing against similar systems. I would kindly like to compare the same system albeit at different times.

The price is similar as there hasnt been any new hardware to directly replace the parts in it. For example the 650M that was originally offered in it hasnt been replaced by a new generation like 750M The only thing really is that the CPU's have been refreshed once by Intel and they now have the faster CPU's then they did a year ago.

sounds like existing customers from that first batch of Q2 Clevo's should be happy upon reading this... their machines appear to remain pretty current right now

    thanks!
