I will never recommend anyone to Alienware. Not even the most hated person on my blacklist.

    The reason why.

Also, what I forgot to mention there was that my Alienware had keyboard problems where it would type 'b' and 'c' on its own. That's how the whole dispute started. After reinstalling the drivers and reformatting a million times, they finally sent me a new keyboard which still had the problem. After that, they asked for the laptop back to fix it themselves. Upon inspection, they said they found no problems with it (I made a video of Notepad open where b's and c's miraculously appeared with my hands away from the keyboard to show them, mind you). Before sending it back to me, they banged it up for good measure. I took photos, emailed them to show the scratches, scuffs and dents(!!!) to the plastic body. I demanded an exchange or a refund which they flat out refused and basically told me too damn bad. It seems that they held a grudge against me for all the requests, which I had rights to make. After all I'm the paying customer and I got a defective product! I paid top dollar for a broken piece of sh*t and absolutely did nothing wrong on my end. When I called them and I cursed out everyone, they threatened to sue me but not before saying on record that I was under the influence of some kind of drug. LOL. Unfortunately for them, I work for a law firm and when I told them their accusations would backfire, they quickly denied and took everything back. That was basically the end. I did my best to warn everyone through BBB, complaints to the attorney general, etc. For $2,000, I got a headache and then some. As for the fate of my M17x or M15x or whatever the hell that crap was, I craigslisted it so fast for a mid end DSLR with less than 50 shutter counts. I got very lucky I disposed of that garbage for something of equal value, but a much better product (Canon 50D). Never again.

As for Malibal (a Clevo botique builder), yeah I've had some issues but if I'm honest, I haven't felt a drop of stress from these guys. Not. One. Single. Drop. Of. Stress.

    /rant :)

there is more favor toward clevo because this is in a sager forum. In the end it all comes down to what you want. Both brands have their pros and cons. You just have to figure out what you want. Im personally sticking with alienware they have always took care of me and their build quality is awesome and i can get great deals through aafes. :)

Man that's horrible. Sorry you had to go through all that. :(

I just think it's terrible that a few lucky enough to talk to the right person in good mood gets 30% discount, but everyone else are overcharged. AW business practice sucks.

I went with LPC because of honesty and believe he gave me the best price that he provides to all his customers.

Alienwares are manufactured by Clevo. At heart, Sager and Alienware are like brothers with the same mother.

umm they used to be made by sager before dell bought Alienware out. Now I believe they are made by a totally different manufacturer. Hence Alienware always seems to be a step ahead of clevo in terms of internal design. ;)

Eh, they are probably manufactured by Foxconn now, just like Apple etc.

I think they might be manufactured by compal, not foxconn. I could easily be wrong here though.

WutTF are you guys talking about!? Alienware initially had Clevo as it's ODM (Original Design Manufacturer). When companies like Sager and others surfaced, they used Clevo as their ODM as well. Clevo would not give their designs exclusively to Alienware, so to remain exclusive and boutique, and curb informed customers from potentially defecting to other cheaper Clevo rebrands, they switched to another ODM, Arima. That's when Alienware became a horrible brand to own, with all the case melting and other issues that were going around. I don't know how many times they switched ODMs or when in this time frame Dell acquired the company (thus no longer leaving Alienware as a boutique brand), but yes, they now use Foxconn as their ODM.

Hi guys, I think if you want anything less than 17 inch definitely Sager. If you want a 17 incher get Alienware only if you can afford to put all the components you want in it. If you have to strain your budget just get Sager. The Alienware lights are cool but the novelty wears off.

Well i was debating the 2 for quite some time. If I was going 7970, I wanted to go AW. Today Dell dropped their deal they had on the 7970 making my decision that much easier. I will purchase a Sager with a 680m and save money.

Oh you didn't feel like finding out what the REAL/ACTUAL price of the AW is rather than the fake, deceitful price they advertise for the rest of the chumps who are too ignorant to know they are being overcharged?
    - Cause don't know about you, but when I configure a AW, I don't see any instructions that tell me, call AW to find out what the real price is, or a button that says let's haggle until I finally give you the actual price of machine!
    - When I bought my Sager, it said right on LPC-Digital's website, contact for maximum discount. And the discount is the same for EVERYBODY, no special treatment, though exceptional customer service for everyone.

Interesting, cause I'm in the market again for a laptop. I see Sager has the best bang for the buck.

But I will say, my M17x-R1 has served me well these past three years. Top performance. Never had an issue with it.

This time around, I do want a Sager....for the same build, Alienware is about $400 more.
