The Sager NP5760 with the GeForce Go 7950 GTX w/512MB has been discontinued but will continue shipping with the nVIDIA Quadro 2500M w/512MB

However the good news is Sager Dealers will begin taking Pre-Orders on the NP5790 (M570RU), NP2090 (Compal IFL90), & NP2070 (Compal IFL91) on 6-15 at 6 PM PST. Your Sager dealers will have pricing up at that time.

Exact ship dates are still unknown, but will be reported here as soon as we have more information.

Thanks Donald! Those are great news indeed.

Gophn is right, we have been waiting in line. Understanding that pricing details won't be available until the 15th, do you happen to know what the initial Video Card will be in this baby? GeForce 8700M ? or another ?

    Thanks!

Kinda sad to the Clevo M570U go... its still got power that can be counted on... especially for the money.

I wonder if all of the new Clevo's have changed their Fan Toggle hotkey... since the D900C is now using Fn+1 ... (over the old Fn+F2).

Took me a while to find that out when the first units shipped.

    Thanks for the update Donald!

I think most of us are foaming at the mouth from all the new machines being dropped into the market recently.

I am interested in the fact that the previous machines seem to be discontinued so quickly. Seems the market is changing from current model of new system -> current system -> budget system to a more streamlined new system high end, new system mid-range, new system low-end.

I wonder how this change will impact replacement part availability..

Great info, I can't wait to see what the configurations for this beast look like.
I'm wondering; will the NP5790 be initially available with a workstation-class graphics card or are you not allowed to talk about that yet?

Exciting. If these are preorders, though, are the Rock Direct ones preorders as well?

I hope it'll be available for preorder at RJTech as well. I want to build my own notebook for the hell of it now.

Hey Justin, why didn't you correct this guy(Jbizzler)? :p (Letting his statement built hype for your sales? )

    JBizzler,

According to your link above: "SHIPPING IN MID JUNE. ALL PRE ORDERS WILL...", they aren't shipping yet either. Paladin44 has the same shipping information XoticPC does , and he gets his information from the same people ;)

    PowerNotebooks.com has the IFL90 listed here: http://www.powernotebooks.com/specs/PowerPro/j10-15.php
where it has been for a bit now.

Thought he was referring to whether you could configure the machine as you cant with the 5790 at this time. ;) Although tardy, we updated our ETA and will continue to reference the same pre-order status as we always have until more updates arrive. :)

Well, my question is: will both be available? Like, will you be able to buy the one branded as Compal, and the one branded as Sager, seperate, or will anyone who preordered the one already listed just get the Sager instead?

Just curious. Not actually intrested in buying.

Compal does not brand any laptop...they are the ODM, not an OEM. Compal only supplies the unbranded barebones to system builders.

So, you can get the Compal IFL90 branded by many different system builders including Sager.

It will be introduced initially with the nVIDIA GeForce Go 7950 GTX 512MB GDDR3

We do not know when (or even if for sure) it will be updated to the 8700M GT

Do you also know about Robson TurboMemory ?

Thanks for the update and info Donald. I know that the 7950 GTX is a great card and will last for a while. It's just interesting that the new Flagship (other than the 901) is not being launched with the 8700.

On the other hand - the 8700 was just released recently but if they are not shipping until mid July or so I would imagine it would be enough time to get it into the RU. Of course this coming from someone who has absolutely no idea of the gargantual scope of getting a newly released GPU into a new machine.

    Thanks again!

If there is an assurance that m570ru will be upgradable, then I will pre-order this with 7950gtx. At this point, 8700GT doesn't seem that what we were expecting.

The new Clevo's have been shown to have a standard MXM module... so yes their upgrades are more possible than ever before.

You should look at Ice-Tea's expressions when he saw the new modules... ;)

I'm sure it will be upgradeable... Maybe they're not releasing it with the 8700 to wait for the 8800 which is expected to be released at the end of the summer?

If you think about it, it's a very short time frame between the 8700 and the 8800 release (assuming it is released as expected). From what I've seen Clevo/Sager puts in the best performing GPU when available and that would support them waiting until the 8800 is released. Especially if what I've been reading (that the 8700 is really just an over clocked 8600) is true.

    hmm...

I'm curious - now that we know the 5790 is coming out with the 7950 GTX, what are the main differences between this one and the previous 5760? Other than obvious cosmetic differences (no more DJ, etc.)

From what I know, the new one has:

    - Draft "N" wireless
    - Santa Rosa (800 MHz)
    - Possible "upgradeability" to Direct 10X Cards 8700 or 8800 when available (MXM 4)
    - Fingerprint Reader (optional right?)
    - hmm... anything else?

I'm thinking even if it is upgradeable It would be hard to justify shelling out another large chunk of change for one of the new cards in just a few months. I hear people buy used GPU's but you could hardly come out on top on that transaction can you?

Regarding the nVIDIA GeForce 8700M GT w/512MB, Clevo is working their hardest to make this option available on both Sager NP5790 (M570RU) and NP9260 (D901C). Currently ETA is early august. Pricing is not yet determined

Sager NP5790 (M570RU) will have 2 color ID options on the frame trim color...Orange and White. Currently the Orange is finalized and will be shipped first around Early July. The White trim version is currently set to be shipping mid August. Sager has planned to carry both color trims as soon as the 2nd version is ready and available.

Oh i had an argument with a guy on the Cnet.com laptop forum as he said the so called no name brands have problems getting part after the warranties are expired. I disagreed with him and he through out that he's been involved with people that fix computers for over 15 years.

Instead of allowing him to lump all so called no name companies into one pile, suggest that Sager is unique in its maintenance of a good stock of parts for years after a model is discontinued...and therefore cannot be lumped into that pile.

Then, ask him specifically if with all his vast experience how many Sager laptops his "people" have ever repaired. Of course he has no idea, but even if he were to ask his "people" they would tell him almost never. There are two reasons for this. One is the obvious, and the other is that almost all Sager users go directly back to Sager for out of warranty repairs simply because they know Sager will HAVE not only the parts, but the factory knowledge of how to repair them.

    Few questions before I order:

    1) Why is it when I compare the NP5790 FORCE and ULTRA on powernotebooks, configure them to the same specifications, the FORCE costs $100 more than the ULTRA? Try it. The specs are the exact same as far as I can tell.

    2) How the 8700, when it comes to non DX10 applications, going to perform compared to the 7950 GTX?

    3) I assume when it comes to gaming I should stick with XP Professional instead of go to Vista. Is formatting the notebook and installing a different OS a simple process, in terms of finding drivers (for when I get a DX10 card and switch to vista)?

    Thanks!

Okay, is it just me but the white trim looks great on the front but the big white rectangle on the top is a little off-setting. I like the orange trim because the top is a polished gray/black color that sort of matches the rest of the black on the notebook. I just don't really like two really contrasting colors unless they are placed in the right places. I think that this is just me and my weird little opinion. Besides, the 18 year old that's going off to college next fall is saying, like that looks like OMG sweet!

    1. Please try again and be careful to match them exactly. The ULTRA is $53 more than the FORCE when configured identically.

    2. For DX9 applications the 7950 GTX should perform better than the 8700 because it is a step down in the hierarchy. The equivalent card would be the 8800 which is probably the only card that will outperform the 7950...however we really can't know for sure until it is out and tested.

    3. Most people are still recommending XP for gaming and have found Vista to be a little slower. Installing Vista later is easy, and the most current drivers will always be by drilling down under the Support button on our website that will take you to the Sager drivers download page.

On powerNB and xotic i dont see a finger print scan i see a lid instead !
and on the specs there is nothing saying finger print scan, is there ?

    Another one:
Is it worth to pay 330+ with a T7700 instead of going T7300 ?

    2. As Donald said we won't know until there are benchmarks for the 8700M-GT. You can't use 3DMark benchmarks to compare because the DirectX 10 cards get much higher scores than their in-game performance would suggest.
