UPDATED PRIZE LIST
![]()
Hey guys!
It's been awhile since we've chatted, but I've got some exciting news. Since my last visit, we've grown from only having about 50-70 followers on Twitter to over 350 Twitter followers and over 150 on Facebook! That's pretty awesome. We're hoping to make those numbers go a bit higher so that we can start putting out more information to the masses, but also spread more awareness about our presence. Also, it lets more people in on the awesome giveaways that we do to give back to some of the community. That's why, starting September 22nd (the first day of Autumn), we're doing a giveaway on our Facebook and Twitter channels! The giveaway will end on September 28th with a grand finale. The total giveaway amount that Sager has graciously provided is over $1700 in Steam Credit. Here's the breakdown:
September 22nd - September 27th: 3 winners will be chosen to get $70 in Steam Credit each OR $140 in Sager credit to be used on the Sager website towards your next purchase.
September 28th: 3 winners will be chosen to get $150 in Steam Credit each OR $300 in Sager credit to be used on the Sager website towards your next purchase.
_____________________________________________________________________________
Total: 21 winners, $1710 in Steam Credit OR $3420 in Sager Credit*
Each day will have randomly chosen times throughout that the giveaways will take place. Some will be randomly chosen, others will require attention and fast reflexes, and still others will require that something be done in order to participate in the drawing of the next prize. We have a structure, but it will be determined by schedule and events happening that week as well as the overall draw. The reason there is no public outline is because we want people to stay for the whole thing, not just stay tuned for one specific time of day. It also gives everyone a chance to participate, say, if you work during certain hours, or are only free for certain parts of the day. Interaction will be the main focus this time, so we'll try to have some fun activities that involve a little bit of effort on the participant's part. It should be a lot of fun. Also, random commentary and such will be happening along with cool facts about Sager.
THE RULES
1. All decisions are final. There will be no changing or exchanging of choices made as a winner. And before you ask or attempt it, no, you can't choose both.![]()
2. The Sager Credit will expire at the end of this year, December 31, 2013. All attempts to use Sager credit after the allotted time period will be denied.
3. This is Global! Anyone can enter no matter the country.![]()
HOW TO ENTER:
It's simple! Like the Facebook page or become a follower on Twitter! We'll choose some random winners from the crowd, but if you're following the action all week, you might be able to snag a prize through your own willpower and determination.
Here's why I am here: I am currently working on a way to recognize NotebookReview's wonderful forums here, filled with our awesome resellers and self-made experts on our products in order to give credit where credit is due for the help you've provided as well as provide thanks to our many fans here.
EDIT: Alright folks! Here's how we're going to do the giveaway next week for NotebookReview Forum users only next week:
On a random day during the giveaway week (hint: it will be a weekday, not on the weekend), we will give away 2 of our $70 Steam credit prizes (or $140 Sager credit for those of you who are interested) to the users here at the Sager-Clevo forums. A wild Sager thread will appear here in the Sager-Clevo forum with the title: "Giveaway Entry Thread: What do you love about Sager?" posted by this account. It will be posted early in the morning (probably around 7:30-8am) Eastern Standard Time and end later that night at 9pm. All you have to do is respond to the thread with what you love about Sager.
As a rule, we will not accept entries made by users on today's date and afterward, so that we can give the credit and entries to the people who have been here already. This will hopefully cut down on most spam and false entries made by users. You may only post once in the thread, so make it good. Posting twice (we WILL check, same as with the join dates) will automatically disqualify you, no matter the post. Use the edit function if necessary. The winners will be randomly picked from the entries via a random number generator.
So, with that in mind, be prepared for the thread coming up next week and good luck to you all!
Cheers!
The Sager Social Media Intern Guy
P.S. Some of you will notice that the Sager pages are marked as "UNOFFICIAL," just like the first time I posted here, so I wanted to clarify that this is true for the following reasons:
1. I am not an employee of Sager (though Intern is currently the step we are on).
2. My views or words do not necessarily reflect Sager's.
However, I offer that given the past tweets, posts, and general information given to former/current/potential customers, as well as my ties to Sager and its resellers, I try to emulate Sager's outlook and professionalism as best as possible and provide good customer relations and some generic support. Feel free to ask me any questions on the matter and I'll be happy to try and clear it up for you. Cheers!

I don't use Facebook or Twitter, why am I forced to if I want to be part of the contest? Well, it is what all the companies are doing now, so I can't really blame Sager. Well, at least I don't have to wait to find out I didn't win.
-
I think the laws that deal with contests need to be re-worked to also say you can't be forced to sign up for a third-part non-affiliated site which collects and sells your information just to enter a contest :/ just as they force normally that purchase isn't required to enter.
Also find it odd, Sager doesn't offer a laptop or store credit towards one instead of steam credits. -
We can take this into account, but we have already decided that our giveaway and prizes will work mostly off of these sites. We decided to use these methods as they are easy for us to use, most of the targeted market (with exceptions, of course) already utilizes these sites, and because it requires minimal effort by the user to potentially receive updates from Sager in the future. There is no forced participation, only rules that say you must sign up if you choose to participate. If you choose not to, that's your choice and I will respect that, you can be sure. However, because I understand some of your hesitation, I may be able to work up a solution that will keep both parties (users and non-users of social media) happy and involved when we come up with a way to do a giveaway for the users of the forums here.
Also, for the other concerns: If we only offer one laptop, we can only do one giveaway and that's not too fun. As far as store credit goes, store credit doesn't really help if the person doesn't have the money to buy a laptop in the first place, depending on how much we give out. If we gave too much out for credit, we would end up with the same problem as giving away one laptop as our budget would be used up in a shorter time and only focused on a few winners. Also, store credit would tend to be country specific. During this time of year, when a lot of new games are coming out, and because our fan-base is made up of a lot of pc gamers, we'd like to help out with some purchases should they want to get a new game or two.
Thanks, though, for the interest! We'll announce how we'll do the notebookreview specific giveaway on this topic next week, so keep an eye out for it. -
A Clevo/Sager selling point is being user upgradeable. Store credits or discounts for wifi, mSATA, SSD, CPU, GPU or RAM might be more attractive to owners that didn't buy a powerful laptop to game and even gamers.
-
I don't think having 1 winner vs. 20 matters. If the prize for the 1 winner is larger in my exp. you often get more people entering as the reward if won is better.
Someone is less likely to waste time for a small steam credit which they may or may not even use, however a chance to win a laptop is a very good incentive.
This is generally why big giveaways do so well with entries. You see them give away a car or home theater package and they get butt loads of entries generally.
You do a give away for something smaller and fewer people feel it is worth the time.
Anyway just my $0.02. -

Think of it like this, as a sager owner you can use the steam credits for games to use on your sager rather than just getting a discount on a machine you may not even need. This way you guys are not left out

whatever loose affiliation (and/or 1099 status) the sager social media intern guy enjoys with sager, i offer my endorsement. i won $50 steam credit during last year's holiday sale which was enough to add at least a few titles to my library. thanks again.
-
I do think it is nice that Sager is doing this. I do think no matter the prize, some would be unhappy. Having a choice might work though, pick this or that.
Thanks for the give away.
PS - I think more and more people are moving away from Facebook, expecially with the privacy concerns people have now. -
Awesome, I'm in. My shiny new clevo will be in my hands tomorrow

Alright folks! After further review of the prize options and the feedback we have received from you guys, Sager has decided to increase the options available for prizes. Each winner will select between two choices:
- $70 in Steam credit OR $140 off a purchase of a Sager notebook from the Sager website.
- $150 in Steam credit OR $300 off a purchase of a Sager notebook from the Sager website.
The catches:
1. All decisions are final. There will be no changing or exchanging of choices made as a winner. And before you ask or attempt it, no, you can't choose both.
2. The Sager Credit will expire at the end of this year, December 31, 2013. All attempts to use Sager credit after the allotted time period will be denied.
Choose wisely and good luck!

Now only if those of us who have privacy concerns about Facebook and Twitter had a way to enter -
Don't worry! We're working on that. We'll announce how we'll do the notebookreview giveaway portion next week. It will be here on the forums, though, so no social media will be required. If you would like more chances to win, though, feel free to join either.

Can't argue with choice lol. Choose wisely indeed.
Just a shame I can't join in, I'm planning on a beastly NP9380 for my next personal build lol. -
Very nice options, especially with the Sager discount! Too bad I just got mine last month
(and it's an awesome machine btw). But most certainly will join in for the steam credit

This sounds awesome, way to promote Sager.
-
Since they are no longer forcing the social media, I feel like I already won. Yeah for that. Getting a choice is great too. Remember, you can always regift the steam games, or get a nice upgrade, that is if you are not into games. And I think steam has some non-gaming software. So I think there is something for everyone.
I know if I win it will go towards a NP8255-S... -
Even though I just bought a new Sager I would still go with the credit and order another and sell mine. But the new one would have even better specs hahahahaha

I'm impressed with those that don't use Facebook or Twitter. I was totally against Twitter until just a little bit ago when I found out there are some sweet people to follow that tweet interesting articles.
-
As for facebook, I simply have no interest in being stalked by ex girlfriends or looking at the ugly baby pictures my breeder friends constantly post. To each their own i guess. -
Any chance we In Europe get to participate? didn't see anything about that, had to ask even though I highly doubt it .
-
I guess if Europeans are left out...a Pakistani Sager user like myself has no chance =(
EDIT: By the way, I did like your facebook page just now (blink) (blink) -
hmm...why does your facebook page say its the 'unofficial' page?
-
EDIT: Updated the main post to reflect this is global contest.
EDIT 2: Warranties work the same as before, no special rules. Sager credit is just money that can be used towards the purchase of a Sager notebook from www.sagernotebook.com.

If you want to enter the contest, you have to be okay with the rules, and methods of entry.
If you're not okay with the rules and methods of entry, then don't think about it. Just move on! You're actually helping other people's chances by not entering.
The reason why companies often do giveaways based on likes for follows is because buying likes or follows costs a lot of money. Doing a small giveaway that will increase one's likes/follows is smarter than paying a firm to get you likes/follows. Plus, the likes/follows earned by the contests are more "legit" in a sense. -
Well, the no purchase needed is a big law. Also the fraud ones or scam ones for these "lotteries", are important.
But let's not derail this... I am looking forward to this contest. The end of this month, or sooner, I plan to order a new Sager NP8255-S. -
In the same boat. -
I think what they're doing is awesome. Excellent opportunity for people to get lots of free games or even lots of credit for a new laptop. That's spectacular IMHO.CoolPrizes likes this. -

"As a rule, we will not accept entries made by users on today's date and afterward, so that we can give the credit and entries to the people who have been here already" I think you are missing the word "joined" in that sentence. I.e. "As a rule, we will not accept entries made by users who joined the forum on today's date and afterward, so that we can give the credit and entries to the people who have been here already"
-
Corrected. Thanks Ajnindlo.
-
So will it be a random drawing then? Or will it be "judged" based on your post?
-
-
Oh good, me no have to worry me write good.

If someone doesn't want steam credits why would they enter a contest only giving that away?My comment about steam was just really me finding it funny a company that sells good and services wouldn't offer anything in-house (which often is cheaper vs. third party items). I think the revised offering though is AWESOME for all! I wasn't after a cash prize or another third party site etc. I just thought it would be great to see the prize option include something from Sager themselves. Why would you say you are a great company and be willing to invest time and money to show customers you appreciate them with a contest and want to give away someone else's product/service? I rather give away something that invest back in my company and helps my customers
which now is an option.
That said, the complaint really was that requiring one to use a third party service, which has privacy concerns by many, to enter a contest that is otherwise open for all to enter was somewhat disappointing.
Facebook makes money from every account they have. When a traditional contest is done they often are required to not require purchase to enter, though otherwise can often make a few more hoops such as mail in entry vs. buying something might automatically enter you. It also makes it seem like an unfair way to punish some, such as those that do not like social media due to various concerns. I mean is the goal to promote your company or another one? lol in this contest it seemed that while the goal was to get the Sager name out more, promote and at same time show that they care they are really advertising for Steam and Facebook more vs. anything.
Now that some changes have been done however I think this is GREAT. I honestly love that someone took the time to read some of our concerns and was able to get some things changed (for the better). Now does that give some people additional chances to win? Maybe, because they can do Facebook and this method, but at least this way we all get some sort of chance vs. before not all had a easy chance. Nothing is perfect but we can try to do things the best ways possible and I think in this case that has been done.
Anyway, look forward to the outcome and I wish everyone best of luck!Actually, no I don't because I want to win! hah

MMM Steam credits and the autumn sale is coming around the corner.

Meaker@Sager Company Representative
Yeah, pick up some juicy titles
I just fear for my wallet.
-
I could use some Steam credits too. I finally decided to get a Steam account for both my kids. Tired of the constant offline this online then offline then update then offline. They play mainly simple games, and hoping I can grab a handful of PopCap games and other classics like Portal that they enjoy for cheap. Two copies even at $10 each can add up quickly. But when they're on sale for $2.49 or $3.00 it's a lot easier to swallow. I just wish I could transfer some games over to one of their accounts.

Have you seen this HTwing?
Steam Family Sharing -
Just a reminder, the giveaway starts tomorrow!
Also, echoing Meaker, you should check into the Steam Family Sharing, HT. Looks promising! Just make sure you sign up to receive the beta updates in order to take advantage of it. -
What time and time zone will it start and end each day, or will the new thread have those details?
Got one more edit for you. "September 28th: 3 winners will be chosen to get $150 in Steam Credit each OR $140 in Sager credit to be used on the Sager website towards your next purchase." I think the $140 Sager credit was meant to be a $300 Sager credit, since it seems the awards double on the last day. -
Watch the forums for your giveaway! I can tell you that it will appear in the morning quite early EST and end that night.
And done! Thanks for pointing that out. -
