They typically start offering options when there is a veritable demand for the option to make sense business wise to keep inventory of them. Not many people have adopted AC yet, just like it took N forever to become normalized, specs aren't finalized yet either. Once the waters calm, it'll likely be offered, but if you wanted to do the upgrade yourself it's pretty easy to do.

Mythlogic has it now in their configurator. Actually, it's the base wireless NIC.

If you are just using it as a N wireless card then the 1202 will beat the 7260-AC, however, if you put it with an AC wireless router then well the AC will win :p At least for internal things, unless you have an a w e s o m e internet connection :p

Define "beat", im looking at range, stability, latency and power consumption.

The 1202 will best the AC in N performance in:

    Range (By a little)
    Latency (A wash)
    Power Consumption (Yes)

Stability.. Sometimes the killers have issues with routers / ap's but we don't really have a "good list" on that

AC is getting more and more common.

Not to mention the cost is basically the same for this half size nics. No reason they shouldn't be default, most people who buy a router are starting to get AC now as it's the new thing. AC is being pushed a lot harder vs. N ever was plus they learned a lot as far as trying to keep compatibility.

I applaud the resellers/builders who offer it, esp as baseline/default. They are looking out for the customers better I think, and you still have the option to downgrade if you don't want :)

AC is now built onto cable modems, DSL modems, etc. that companies (such as comcast) are starting to put out in the field.

I'm looking to get a new Clevo W230ST, but I have concerns it may not ship with the intel 7260ac card? how hard are they to upgrade exactly? Also I'm guessing the 7260 includes bluetooth v4?
