Thinking of getting a 5165, but I'm wary about the keyboard. I've never used that kind before, and I do a lot of typing. Can anyone describe what they're like for heavy use, especially coming from a thinkpad or even more regular laptop keyboards?

It's not my favorite keyboard for sure but it does the job. Just go into any Best Buy and try out other laptops with a chiclet type keyboard and you'll get the general idea. One good thing I noticed is that the Clevo has much less flex under the keyboard than some other laptops (Alienware).

Personally I prefer the old style laptop keyboards. This keyboard is too Apple like.

I would say the closest thing I would compare it to is the Apple Aluminum keyboard.

I've only had the laptop a few hours, but so far I don't really mind the keyboard. The chicklet style is different, though...we'll see what I think in a week or two.

It tends to just be something that most people aren't used to, going in. Chiclet style keyboards are still somewhat new/unusual for laptops.

I'll never go back to the old style laptop keyboard. Keys are too scrunched together. Chiclet style makes it more natural like with an external keyboard.

I love the Chiclet style keyboard. I can type on this thing as fast as I want, doesn't miss a key and has good resistance.

How do you like your computer so far?!? My order is supposed to be shipped this week so I'm pretty anxious to receive it. Will you be writing a review?

I'm loving it, it's definitely worth the wait. I'll be waiting at least a few days to do a review. Not sure if I'll do a full or quick one, but I'll probably do something.

EDIT: And, to the OP: The more I use this keyboard, the more I like it, you should be happy with it. Now, just to figure out why palmcheck isn't working and my pointer keeps moving...

I guess I'll check out a chiclet KB at best buy to be sure, but it doesn't sound like a huge issue once you get used to it. Thanks for posting your experiences.

I would honestly say that it is the closest to the Apple Aluminum keyboard. It is not as good as the higher end Sony VAIO chiclet keyboards.

I speed type on a few different style keyboards with the multiple computers in my house. The chiclet style on my 8130 is one of my favorites. You shouldn't have a problem with it.
