So i was browsing through ebay for a gaming laptop and i came across this Sager Laptop.
    Clevo/Sager M980NU Gaming Laptop X9100 Nvidia GTX 280M - eBay (item 260624231350 end time Jun-29-10 16:59:29 PDT)
So i looked up reviews and specs for this laptop and it sounded good. However this person states that his model has the C2D E8435. It looks like a desktop processor to me, every review I have looked at there has been no mention of this model hosting a desktop processor. Is this legit, if so could I throw in a Q9550 later down the road because they are both on the LGA 775 Socket? If this somehow is a mobile processor could i buy a Qx9300 and put that in there?

    Thanks Guys, Help much appreciated

It'S definitely a mobile CPU. The best CPU that can fit into the M980NU is the QX9300. Apple uses the weird Exxxx designation for the CPUs they use in their products. So he replaced the CPU that originally came with that laptop, but that shouldn't be a problem. But the E8435 with C0 stepping as in fact a X9100 and you would be able overclock it.

You could put a QX9300 in there easily. I'm fairly certain it will support it.

@Daniel Hahn, could not have put it better myself.

I have the M980nu but bought barebones and out fitted it with the E8435 I got from a chap called laptop Monkey on Ebay. Think at the time it came in around the £180 mark.

CpuID shows it as the E8435 though from memory it had a lot of potential over clocking wise as in originality it is a x9100.

I dont have the cpu anymore sold it to fund a qx9200 es which coming in @ 2.4ghz is not that far shy of the qx9300 and half the price. Although the QX9300 has a bucket load of headroom.

I know the QX9300 is coming in at around £400, but thats if you can find one.
