Minor Sager NP5790 (Clevo M570RU) refresh
Sager NP5790 has been refreshed into Sager NP5791
NP5790: Does not support Intel Turbo Memory (1x Mini-PCI / 1x Mini-PCIe)
NP5791: Now supporting Intel Turbo Memory (2x Mini-PCIe)
Turbo Memory & TV-Tuner shares the same Mini-PCIe socket, therefore the two cannot coexist
1024MB Intel Turbo Memory available now
TV-tuner availability pending (ETA late September)
*NOTE* this is not the same model refresh Sager announced on 8/31/2007.
There will be an additional model refresh in the near future, most likely named Sager NP5792, in order to support Intel Mobile Extreme processors.

I don't really care about Turbo Memory or the Mobile Extreme processors but I'm worried that these refresh maybe more then just that. What if these updates made it so that the NP5791/NP5792 are upgradeable to the 8800M but the NP5790 is not? I just wish someone could answer that question. Not trying to put the heat on you or anything......I know your just reporting the news you got. Thank you for that.
-
I just placed an order last night (Wednesday night) -- does that mean I'll get the NP5791 by chance? Or are those still off in the distance.
(I only ask since I care about the 8800M as well ..

These updates do not have any impact on future video card support. Nobody knows what is required for the 8800, so any of the current changes don't pertain to any future use of this card.

Thanks mate

how soon will NP5792 be availible .just to clarify the np5791 will be avalible in late sept or the tv tunner will be avalible in late sept
-
crap, i just changed my order for the second time.....i gotta change it again cause i want that intel turbo memory. the more stuff the merrier
i hope this doesn't annoy Justin. -
I've hit Justin with a million emails over the last week... so if anyone is annoying him, it's probably me
.
-
As for the chance of graphics card updatability he was unable to provide any information since (as we know on these forums) Nvidia and ATI haven't released any new mobile chips/cards. -
Hey Justin - If we've placed an order, but are waiting on the 7950gtx, will we get the 5791?
-
I just read the post again by justin and i just realized that if you have the np5790 with NO TV tuner then you could probably buy an "intel turbo memory" and install it in the tv tuner's place, am i right?
Cause i really dont want to wait any longer than i have to especially if theyre gonna just change that, i might as well just buy one (intel turbo mem) and install it myself instead of waiting for the NP5791 to come out.
btw, i took a look at lawlz notebook underside and i couldnt tell where the mini pcie is supposed to go......... someone care to shed some light into this matter? -
The manuals at the Clevo website are real good. The show the internals of the laptop, how to take it appart, where everything is, etc.
-
I clicked on both links and nothing happened.
-
-
If someone can host the file (manual for the M570RU) somewhere for me it would be really great...
-
Using firefox, with popup blocking, I nabbed the file no problem. There were two links.. an sftp or https one, and another. The second link didn't work for me, but the first one did.

so can anyone verify that i can hook up an intel turbo memory (robson) to the tv tuner mini pcie slot?
-
you can't install turbo memory on the NP5790, if you could Sager wouldn't have to refresh the model number. read the sager news again.
NP5790: Does not support Intel Turbo Memory (1x Mini-PCI / 1x Mini-PCIe)
NP5791: Now supporting Intel Turbo Memory (2x Mini-PCIe)
Turbo Memory & TV-Tuner shares the same Mini-PCIe socket, therefore the two cannot coexist
NP5790 has 1x mini-pcie and 1x mini-pci
Intel Wifi uses the 1x mini-pcie and the tv-tuner uses mini-pci
NP5791 has 2x mini-pcie
so again Intel wifi uses 1x mini-pcie, and then it leaves you 1 mini-pcie to install intel turbo memory or a mini-pcie version of tv-tuner that is not in stock. -
It isn't Sager who needs to refresh. It's Clevo
-
Thanks Tenchi for verifying that.....that cleared out my issue. -
Soooooooo will the 5791 be able to accept these new Penryn(sp?) processors that are supposed to be coming out soon?
