Hi. I bought a sager N9170 last year with 7970M GPU and have recently been having an issue where the PC will power itself down randomly and without warning. This has been having for roughly a week and has never happened before. I do not get any errors, my screen goes black and is unresponsive but is still on for roughly 2 seconds, then the PC turns off completely. When I start the computer up again I get none of the usual windows has crashed stuff, its just a normal boot up. The PC doesn't really feel hot at all, i'm not monitoring the temperatures on anything but just feeling the vents and keyboard it doesnt feel very hot at all and i've ran with no issues with it quite a bit hotter.

I've been playing a lot of FFXIV, so not sure if that has to do with it. Typically it would power off about once per day, but today it powered off after 6 hours of playing and then upon restarting and rebooting the game it powered off again about 10 minutes later. This is the first time it has happened twice in a day.

Anyone know what the issue could be? I suppose it could be related to the battery but my laptop is plugged in so that shouldn't be an issue right? I don't think it has to do with power settings, the computer doesn't shut down it completely power off and doesnt go through the shut down process.

download temperature monitoring software from my sig below. just touching the outside is no good whatsoever. when was the last time you cleaned the vents and fans out with compressed air. this should be done every 3-6 months.
when this started happening had you updated any drivers or loaded any new software the day before.
have you run a virus scan lately.if not do it now.
does your psu power brick get very hot or is there a very faint buzzing noise from it..

I'm thinking the same as MrDJ with it being a thermal problem. Open up the bottom and clean out the vents and fans from any dust that has built it. Doing so will fix overheating issues 99% of the time.

Do you happen to experience reduced performance (in-game or outside of it) shortly before the shutdown?
