    Hi all,

I recently acquired a Sager NP4880 from a friend. The laptop was giving him a number of problems and he did not want to waste time and money fixing the problems. Long story short, I did a thorough cleaning of the laptop from inside and out, replaced the broken hard drive with a brand new 100 GB FUJITSU, reapplied thermal paste to the cpu and video card and added a WIFI card.

Unfortunately there is one problem I have not been able to get rid of, the laptop displays vertical green lines during boot and when I log into the OS the screen goes crazy with colors before the system stalls or shuts down. I had the problem fixed for about 2 weeks, I could even play regular games of Warcraft 3. But all that changed when the problem came back and I could no longer even use the computer for general usage. It appears to be a video card problem. The current card in the laptop is a ATI Mobility X700.

If anyone can offer advise on how to fix this problem (I have already replaced the thermal pads) it would be much appreciated. And even better, if anyone has a spare Mobility X700 or X600 (or any other NP4880 parts) that they would like to donate to this project, I would be very greatful. Thanks!

PS I'm planning on repainting this laptop so I will be posting pics on the progress of this project, but I first want to fix all existing hardware problems.
