EDIT: READ: Sorry guys, I meant the M15x Sorry!

Here are the specs for the Sager I am thinking about buying. It's it way cheaper first of all, $1500. Can you guys help me with anything that I should improve?
    -2nd Generation Intel® Core™ i7-2720QM, 2.2-3.3GHz, (32nm, 6MB L3 cache)
    -nVidia GT 540M 1024MB PCI-Express GDDR3 DX11 with Optimus™ Technology
    -8,192MB DDR3 1333MHz Dual Channel Memory (2 SODIMMS)- Special
    -750GB 7200RPM (Serial-ATA II 300 - 16MB Cache)

Anything wrong with this? Do I need anything else?

Besides I would personally make sure that you get the 1920x1080 screen and the 6230 wireless besides that looks good.

Also I would check around for pricing, $1500 USD for that seems a bit high.

I might go back and check, however, I did add a mouse, laptop cooler pad (thingy), and Microsoft Office Student. I'll check back and see what the price for the laptop itself is.

So, is it as good as an Alienware M15x?

EDIT:READ ME: Ok, so It's very close to $1200 just for the laptop).

Do you think I'll need the extra 250 Gb?

I personally don't carry much data on a laptop, YMMV. However I really want a hybrid drive.

And yes I would consider the 5160 a much better buy than the M15x

The Mobility 5850 and GTX 460M devour the GT 540M by nearly 2x. It's not a contest or debate.

You should be looking at the NP8130/8150.

That's true, but in regards to gaming with consoles having an extended life and PCs not being lead platforms anymore, you can get a lot more life out of games for the foreseeable future. The 540M can play just about anything currently on High around 30fps. Coming up soon is Crysis 2 which I'm sure will be fine on Medium.

is the GT540M Good/Bad? Or is it just that the others are simply better?

I'm not going to sugar coat.

My GTX 260M is a low tier chip, when taken in the full context of where GPU technology is right now, mobile and desktop. For perspective, it is close to 2x the speed of the GT 540M. That casts a pale light on the 540M, yes?

It isn't the GPU you choose, if high details, resolutions, and framerates matter. TODAY, the GT 540M is to be considered close to its shelf life. You are already going to need to lower settings to keep games playable. Within a year, you'll be dreaming of something which can really handle your games. Do you want that, from a brand new kit? I don't.

It isn't the enthusiast gamer's choice, like the M15x is. The M15x stomps on the NP5160, full stop.

I vote M15x, between the two.

For the price of the M15x you can get the P150HM... NP 8150, which then blows away the M15x...

M15x is like the high-end area, while the NP5160 would be the longetivity capable laptop.

Like everyone said, with that money just get the NP8130/8150

It depends how valuable the longer battery life is to you. 8130 is a much better machine plus it has a matte screen (much better for outdoors use). The 5160 will give you 2-3 more hours on the integrated graphics card and will be about $300 less.

Honestly though the 8130 is damn near perfection right now. I'm so pissed this recall happened. I was counting the days till mine got here.

    8150 or the R3

IMO, R3 is better for the looks, but you'll save a bit with the 8150.

Performance is on par, but AW offers XMP memory profiles, but idk which you prefer.

Which 750GB hdd is that one? The WD 12 mm thick is very bad for small files operations and not suitable as a primary drive.
