Just got this thing in the other day, and I am really impressed. But I did inspect this IPS monitor and it looks like I'm dealing with some significant backlight bleed. Is this normal with Sagers or IPS monitors?

That is extremely bad... I would RMA... Or follow @jaybee83's advice for reseating the bezel...

Since this is right out of the box, I'm gonna to contact Sager about it. I'm glad I am not alone on this thought though. Thanks.

yupyup, unfortunately thats a common occurrence with IPS displays. theres no guarantee whatsoever that exchanging the panel will help. tweaking local pressure points of the display bezel might help, its a bit tricky though...

Even though there is no guarantee that changing the screens might help, I'd say the odds are in your favor of getting a better one though. But yes, check to see if you can adjust the bezel and if it helps out.

I've had the same thing on my Alienware 18 before. Don't bother changing the screen, Dell sent me 3 diff. screens and when you put them on the laptop, they are fine, the moment you tighten the screws of the bezel you start seeing the light bleeding in the corners like the image you posted. Best thing is to remove the bezel and see if the light bleeding is there, if not, then try slowly tightening the bezel but not hard enough to cause excess pressure where light bleeding happens.

This is why when I ordered my P870DM-G from HIDevolution, the first thing I told them to do is to inspect it well for light bleeding to not have to deal with this headache
