    Hi,

I have a 3 year old Sager NP2090 that's been a good laptop. I travel with it every week. However, a major problem has recently come up. The touchpad is incredibly sensitive and thinks it is being "clicked" anytime you scroll with it.

For example, when I move the pointer over a page of text, the whole page will get highlighted. If I play a FPS, the character's rifle will fire constantly whenever I try to turn his head with the touchpad. If I simply hover the cursor over a link it will always open the url. This is extremely frustrating and makes the laptop borderline unusable.

Can anyone recommend a fix? I've tried monkeying with the settings under "mouse" in the control panel but it doesn't help. I've looked for a driver to install but can't seem to find the right one. I have windows vista home edition if it matters.

Just turn off touchpad tapping in the control panel.

Thanks for the replies. No, the problem doesn't happen when my fingers are wet, it happens all the time. Also, there is no option under "mouse" in my control panel to turn off touchpad tapping. I have searched under every possible button and there seems to be no option for this on the elantech touchpad that came with my laptop. Any recommendations on how to fix this are greatly appreciated.

You should have a touchpad settings section in the mouse panel. If not you should install drivers for your touchpad.

Not that I can see. Here are my folders under "mouse" in control pane:

    -Buttons
    -Pointers
    -Pointer Options
    -Hardware

Under "hardware" the "elantech touchpad" is listed under "devices". If I double click on "elantech touchpad" I get the following folders:

    -General
    -Driver
    -Details

Under "driver" there is an option to "update driver", but when I do that, it tells me the most current driver is already installed.

try installing the touchpad driver from here: Software Upgrade

You most likely just have a default windows driver if you have no touchpad settings available.

I had the same problem. I am running Windows 7 on a Sager.

This is a bit different than the traditional control panel options and it took me a while to find so maybe you also have it. Go to control panel, then mouse. Go to the tab that says "finger-sensing pad". Under "available information..." choose scroll on pad. Uncheck both boxes. Then under "available information..." choose click on pad. Uncheck the box. You can also check the "gesture configuration under click on pad; but in my case it was just a bunch of obscure stuff so I didn't mess with it. I can now surf the web and play computer games without my window suddenly zooming out to nothing or in until I can barely fit a single word on the screen!
