Ok, basically i don't know if this is serious or not yet. But Normally my laptop rarely goes over 55ish degrees Celsius, but recently my laptop fan is constantly on and the temperature is really high compared to before. Normally the temperature ranges from 50 to low 60's, but now after running for an hour after being turned on the temperature easily reaches to the mids 60's to high 60 range. (haven't seen it go to 70 yet) The fan is also almost constantly on, unlike before when it only turned on when the temperature got pretty high. Im even using a laptop cooler, and there is no difference in temperature (with or without the cooler). I haven't update the drivers or anything, the only thing is that around January I sent my laptop in to xoticpc and they said that my motherboard was fried and replaced it with a new one. When i got it back it was working much better than before, but now its not so great...
Things to notice:
- 1 and half weeks ago the fan was constantly on, though the performance was unnaffected. I went to the washroom went to eat and what not came back about 1~2 hours later, and the computer had shut down itself.
- about half a week ago, while i was surfing the web and reading stuff online i didn't notice the fans or anything about the laptop. Mainly i wasn't paying attention to the condition of the laptop at the time, and i got a blue screen and the laptop restarted itself. Then when it started up again i got another blue screen, and shut down again and I had to start it up but it was like nothing had happened. (except for the unexpected shutdown has occured, and the a percent thing than it asks you how you want to start up windows)
- Every now and then i sit down with the laptop in my lap, before the temperature wasn't bad at all. However now if i keep it on my leg too long it starts to heat up quite a bit, and if i stick my hand underneath and touch the underside of the laptop its not that far from the temperature where i would instinctively pull back my hand.
- When moving files around, the hardrive temperature stayed constant at around 57 degree but now it reaches to 63 degree easy.
- the GPU stays in the 57- 61 range normally, goes to 63-67 temperature range.
- I dont usually moniter the core temperature.
-The laptop doesn't only heat up durings games, things like surfing the web and browsing through files cause the fan to start up. (Like i said before the fan start up when the temperature is pretty high.
high to me is anything above 60ish degrees.

I would check your heatsink and the thermal compound cause it sounds like a loose heatsink or poorly applied thermal compound.
-
have you cleaned it out? could be dust buildup. compressed air is your friend. and i don't recommend using it on your lap unless you keep in on a cooler or flat surface.

Yeah, clean it out but make sure you hold the fans in place when you blow through them so they don't spin faster than they are designed to, which will damage the motors inside and cause even worse cooling issues.

The motherboard logic is set by default to forcibly shutdown the computer if the core temperatures get too high.
So in the absence of any other obvious cause, I would assume that if the computer starts shutting down mysteriously it is due to heat. -
I'll try cleaning out the fans, and the insides once i get around shopping to buy a can. But if that's all the problem is I'm quite actually happy, considering before this all I've had were desktops and they're pretty good at cooling themselves down.
Sager NP2090 heat problems...
