All for 1600 with shipping . Now my questions are:
    1) Am i missing anything with my specs? Maybe blue tooth? but whats the purpose of that... with a computer beside send ur phone songs =X?
2)I heard there's a trim option but wasn't able to find it on a retailer, maybe they didn't have it on xotic or power notebook's website or maybe there isn't 1. (ahhh dif notebook ^.^ i see.)
3)Also.... How many USB slots will there be and the estimated battery life on this big puppy? I read through the IF90 and no1 had a real estimated battery life. Or maybe i just skimmed through it to quick :p
4)You guys think it will be pretty durable for a college student? I take care of my electronics and wont let them get in harms way but just wondering if it would last say ... 2.5 years.

I'm pretty dead set on getting this laptop so i hope you guys can help me ^.^
    Thank you in advance

    1. Your specs look good, except if you are getting 2GB system memory you will probably find Robson won't really help. If you were to be getting 512MB or 1GB system memory it would help, but getting 2GB system memory is a better solution.
    2. There is no trim option on this model
    3. For complete detailed specifications on this model go to http://www.powernotebooks.com/specs/Sager/2090specs.php where you will see there are 4 USB 2.0 Ports (2x500mA & 2x1Amp)...that is two are super powered. You will also find the 9 Cell Battery Life is about 3.5 to 4+ hours
    4. Yes, this is the perfect model for an electronics college student, and will probably be one of the best sellers for college students this year.

Well buddy, I have the same exact thoughts. Forget the IFL90, I'm going for the Sager! (cuz it seems to be cheaper =p). However, I think we may have to install the 32 bit windows if we want that, cuz it says that the 64 bit is installed =\. I guess you could call them and ask them to see if you could get the 32 bit installed instead of the 64 bit. But that all depends on which version you want.

I really like that configuration - the three-year warranty is a good thing to have. If you are happy with the final price I would go for it.

Thanks for the info paladin ^.^, i'm pretty dead set on this puppy now. Hmm, the 64bit version has more security and the 32 bit version has more compatibility with the current drivers... Oh the dilemma

The Sager NP2090 IS the IFL90...and if it looks cheaper it is because of the difference in the warranty. 1 or 3 years, plus the shipping is 3 Day with Sager (notice what you have quoted is 3 years labor but only 1 year parts...) as opposed to the Xoticpc and PowerNotebooks version of the IFL90 that comes standard with a 3 year labor AND parts warranty with Next Day shipping paid both ways.

When you get the SagerNP2090 with 64bit Vista installed you will also get the 32bit CD so you can blow away the 64bit and install the 32bit...and then go back to the 64bit if you want to later. However if you get the 32bit installed...you don't get the 64bit CD...so it is better to go ahead and get it with 64bit installed.

Oh I didn't mean it LOOKS cheaper, I just meant that it "is" cheaper. I like both of the looks that's all =). And thanks for the info on the different bit CDs. I guess I'll just get the 64 bit pre-installed with both CDs.

it seems that the upgrades (at least on xotic pc) for the Sager are much cheaper than the Compal. I know they are the same comp, but its still odd to me. (159 vs 145 for the T7500, 255 vs 250 for the 4 gig mem, 195 vs 176 for ultimate) And you have the option of getting the 64 biut and installing the 32 while you have to pick one for the Compal.

Donald, the added 139 gets three year parts and labor right? but no overnight shipping? I can live without overnight.

Actually you shouldn't focus on individual upgrade pricing, rather focus on the total cost between them fully configured and warranted the way you want them. Then take the best value.

On thing that separates them is the Arctic Silver 5 that is not available on the Sager, but is on the PowerPro and the Force. Xoticpc is giving it for free, and you may find that PowerNotebooks.com is too if you just call us. We also have other special promotions that are not advertised but you will hear about if you call.

Also, overnight shipping may not be important to you if you live in the West, but if you are in the East, NE, South or Mid-West the difference of 2 days in transit as opposed to 6 days in transit may have more meaning to you.

Lastly, no one here is trying to persuade you one way or the other. They are all the IFL90 just under different brands and with different packages. Just study them and take the package that suits you best. :)

Thanks for that Donald. I actually do live on the east, so it may be a better idea to stick with something that comes with overnight shipping. If this T61 delay starts bothering me any more, you may just be getting a call from me sometime soon. I'll of course check out you and xotic, you are both valuable to this forum and I don't believe my business could be better spent elsewhere.

Though I am sure you and xotic must be in some killer rivalry :p

Thanks ehiunno, we will be here to serve you whenever you are ready. How long have you been waiting for your T61...and how many times have they pushed your ship date back (not counting that August 2nd mistake)?

Justin and Amber at Xoticpc are great people who care about their customers so I would say that we at PowerNotebooks.com have killer respect for them...I wish all of our other competitors cared about their customers like Xoticpc and PowerNotebooks.com do. Just check out the ratings at www.resellerratings.com before you buy from anyone, and make sure you call them to get to know them before you place your order. You will be glad you did :)

So yeah, first one to get theirs must post pics and detailed review immediately. I honestly even hate the fact that I have to wait until the 22nd for the notebook to be shipped. I'm still a month away from buying, actually my buy date will be 4 weeks from now. I really hope a lot of you get this notebook and are happy with it! Although my heart was set on the Asus G1S or V1 refresh, you guys(especially powernotebooks and xoticpc with your prices) are making me drool over the pics and specs of the NP2090 and NP5790. Smartest thing I ever did was probably join this forum.

Wait, no breathing just barely beats it!

You might want to ask Xoticpc that question because Sager is not offering the 6 cell battery. My guess is they are sourcing it somewhere else, or it is a mistake on their site.

The 6 cell the we offer for our PowerPro J 10:15 will not work in the Sager model regardless of screen size.

I'm pretty sure I remember seeing that upgrade as well. The 9-cell is for the 1650 x 1080 resolution and the 6-cell was standard for the lower resolution option. I could be wrong though.

i was just looking on xoticpc and i saw the compel 90 has options for corsair 667 mhz ram but the sager 2090 only has 'normal' 667 mhz ram upgrade options.

is there a noticable performance difference between the two?

xindan80, there isnt a noticeable difference between the Corsair and the regular Major brand ram we have on our site. If you had one machine with Corsair and one with the other brand side by side, you wouldn't be able to tell :)

When I configure an NP2090-V Elite I can only choose between Glossy screens@1280x800, or matte screens@1680x1050. How can I configure the notebook with a glossy screen@1680x1050?

You can't for the time being. According to Justin and Donald, Compal had a shortage of glossy screens so they had to switch to the matte screen for the 1680x1050 models for the time being.

It depends on what you are doing, but for most people using XP it will not be noticeable. However if you are using Vista it might help, but only marginally.

I've had good luck with notebooks on my local Craigslist (google for craigslist). It only shows for local people, and it doesn't cost anything.

I agree with Donald though, give the folks here in the Sellers forum a crack at it first.

Is it better to install XP or Vista on this computer given the choice? I've never really been a big fan of Vista after the desktop I had earlier this year, but I'm willing to give it another chance if it will perform smoothly. However, I'm pretty content with XP. Also, if I do decide to stick with XP, whats the difference between Home and Professional edition? Is it worth the extra money??

Do any of the websites offer a monthly payment plan or anything?

I think I almost have everything figured out and ready to make my purchase very soon. A few more questions please :D

    1. Is it worth it to upgrade from the 5400RPM hard drive to 7200? I plan on keeping the 80gig as I don't really need the space that bad.

    2. Would it be better to get Vista if I had 2 gigs of memory? To think of it, I am intrigued by Vista's new features and believe it will improve over time, but I do like the stability of XP. Does the 64/32bit thing mean I'm getting the 64bit version but with 32bit drivers??

    3. Is there a significant difference between the WXGA and WSXGA? Does the resolution make it look way better? I don't really have a preference as far as the glossy screen goes.

    4. Do any websites offer monthly payment plans?

If you run programs/processes that write/read large amounts of data on the drive, then yes it is probably worth the upgrade as the programs will run much faster and spend less time writing/reading the disk.
If you pick Win Vista 64bit, it will be pre-installed with 64 bit drivers, plus you get a 32bit Win Vista install cd along with your 64bit Windows restore cd(This deal is exclusive to Sager and will not happen if you order the PowerPro J 10:15 or Compal IFL90).
The laptop, with or without an OS will come with a driver CD with 32bit +64bit Win XP and Vista drivers. Win Vista 64bit can only use 64bit drivers that are digitally signed, it is very picky about drivers.

Again, this really up to you to decide, its a matter of preference. The resolution of your screen is pretty much the only difference, if you order the WSXGA, you get a non glossy screen and a higher resolution. Some people like high resolution (more pixels per inch, therefore more detail.) Others like lower resolution so that fonts and images are bigger and easier to see. If you order the higher resolution screen, you will have greater freedom to pick a resolution that suits you.

If they don't specifically say so on their website, I would call them up and ask.

I'm also considering the 2090 come Fall Semester. I've got a question about the screen resolution:

I plan on plugging the notebook into a secondary display for use at home for games/word proccessing/photoshop etc. This is probably a no-brainer, but will the resolution ordered in any way impact the actual graphics card and port? I think I could get by with WXGA's fairly low resolution as long as I could crank it up when I plugged into an decent external display.

    Thanks.

yes. as long as the display and the card support up to that resolution.
