I am thinking of buying the Sager NP2092 with the specs listed bellow.
Unlike some, i have had decent luck with Dell, (despite the fact that they're located in god knows where) I like their service department.
I will be using this Notebook for CAD, Photoshop and SketchUp. One of the requirements for the program i am in is to have a 512MB graphics card which this unit has.
My questions are these:
-In comparison to Dell, is it difficult to get replacement parts for the Sager computers?
-Do they come with the discs to reinstall whatever software the computer comes with in the event that there is a major crash?
-A couple problems i have had with my dell inspiron 600m is the power cord has stopped working (I am on my third power cord) and the 'pin in the back of the laptop where the power cord plugs into' seems to have come detached so sometimes when my computer is plugged in it will switch to battery power for no reason. Do you know of anyone having issues with either of these problems with Sager units?
-How is the "service department"?
-Would you recommend a Sager computer?
-Should i purchase this unit from sagernotebooks.com or another seller?
THANK YOU!![]()

You should consider getting a Quadro card which is geared more towards CAD and modelling. Some programs won't run unless your card is a Quadro. The Quadro FX 570M is basically an 8600mGT. Another thing I see is that although the 8600 is 512mb, it can't use it all with it's given 128-bit bus.

i highly recommend you buy from xoticpc.com or powernotebooks.com. it'll be cheaper, you get 24/7 tech support for lifetime, and top notch service all around from both of those resellers. you get an OEM os disk, nero and powerdvd for your disks. there is no bloatware on your factory install beside microsoft office trial. i also highly recommend you bump your processor up to the t8300. it's a small price to pay for 300 extra mhz.

I would recommend Dell M1530 honestly.
-
i use a whole bunch of CAD, CAE, FEA, and CFD programs on a JFL92... they run without a problem.
-
My only problem with that is that I would rather have Windows XP over Vista -
-
-
they cost about 100 bucks for home and about 150 for professional, but not many retailers carry them and they're getting harder to find online. if you're in dallas or houston texas fry's sells them.
-
also Dell offers a downgrade service, where they put XP on at the factory and give you the disks for Vista (must be vista business or ultimate) so you decide when you are ready to upgrade. It is for businesses and the XPS qualifies.

I think (I am not sure ... memory thing ... you know) DELL has announced on their website that today, June 16, 2008 is the LAST DAY that they will offer XP ... so!!!!
