Hi guys. I'm currently looking to buy a Sager NP2092. I had a few questions that i hope you guys could help answer.
1. What is the main difference between Sager NP2092/2090?
2. Is the battery sticking out in the back something that gets to be very annoying? or is it so small that most users dont even notice.
3. Anyone who currently owns a Sager NP2092 please voice there opinions?
4. Here is the setup i want to get ( www.sagernotebook.com):
- Display: 15.4" WSXGA+ LCD with Matte Finish Surface (1680X1050)
- Processor: 45nm Intel® Core™ 2 Duo Processor T9300 / 6MB L2 Cache, 2.50GHz, 800MHz FSB[+$270.00]

Get it from XoticPC. Better support and probably a better price.
-
1) penryn support.. and the wsxga+. that's it
2) personal. i have an ifl90.. it doesn't bother me at all
3) it's awesome. real sturdy, quiet, light, the 8600m is easily overclockable, the screen is one of the best wsxga+ screen i've seen.
but look at xoticpc or powernotebooks for the 2092.. they have better support and are bit cheaper.
you really don't need the turbo memory with 4 gigs of ram -
you dont need that Robson memory with 4g ram.
and dont buy direct from sager.
goto xoticpc.com or powernotebook.com for better prices and better customer service for the same Sager. -
kk so the robson memory i will throw out. how's the Nvidia Geforce 8600m GT? do you guys find it capable enough to run current games?
-
it will run 90% of games on all high settings, the other 10% on medium
examples: bioshock and COD4 runs on all high settings
crysis and FSX run on medium settings -
that sounds extremely good enough for me (i don't really game that much anymore, but might come back to it in the future). Any more first hand experienced with the NP2092
-
i heard someone having problem running COD4 high on a sager 2090 , And if u checked the 2092 hav the LG screen vs the Unknown screen. Plus i think u could play cod4 high setting with lower resolutiion 1068 something or lower. im not sure but if ur just wanting to play medium u can.

i have a few new questions. i was wondering what the difference between the T8300 vs the T9300. (will i be able to tell a big difference between the two?)
-
-
i see that helps a lot. I actually wanted the t9300, but my uncle (he randomly decided to buy me a sager labtop for my graduation present) ordered a t8300 i believe. I still have to confirm with him but other than that the specs i stated above are the same. I can't wait! it comes tuesday.
-
-
I got mine with the following specs:
2.4Ghz t8300 3MB cache Penryn
2GB DDR2 667 Ram
160GB 7200rpm SATA2 hdd
nVidia Geforce 8600M GT 512MB
I was originally going to get the NP5792/3, but it turned out to be way too expensive, and carrying around a 17" gaming laptop wouldn't be too great.
I will update you on the performance once I get the laptop. Hopefully I will get it by the end of the week. -
Sweet dude, mine comes tommorow actually.
The specs are:
- Display: 15.4" WSXGA+ LCD with Matte Finish Surface (1680X1050)
- Processor: 45nm Intel® Core™ 2 Duo Processor T8300 / 3MB L2 Cache, 2.40GHz, 800MHz FSB[+$185.00]
- Video & Graphics Card: Nvidia GeForce 8600M GT Graphics with 512MB DDR2 Video Memory
- Operating System: Genuine MS Windows® VISTA Home Premium 32/64-Bit Edition
- Memory: 4GB Dual Channel DDR2 SDRAM at 667MHz - 2 X 2048MB[+$110.00]
- Primary Hard Disk Drive: 160GB 7200rpm SATA 150 Hard Drive[+$120.00]
- Optical Drive: 8X DVD±R/RW/4X +DL Super-Multi Drive & Software
- Wireless Network Card: Intel PRO/Wireless 4965AGN - 802.11A/B/G/N Wireless LAN Module
- Bluetooth: Internal Bluetooth Module[+$45.00]
- Intel Robson Technology: Intel 1GB TurboMemory Module[+$35.00]
- Primary Battery: Smart Li-ION Battery Pack (9 Cells)
- Warranty: Sager 1 Year Limited Parts and Labor Warranty with Three-Day Shipping Both Ways Paid
Will update on performance once i get it. I know the TurboMemory isnt really needed with the 4 gb RAM, but my uncle had already ordered it for me so nothing much i can do about it! I'm so excited for this labtop!!!! -
Wow... they still haven't added support for 800Mhz ram, despicable.
-
-
-
Vista Home 64 bit! I also have a legit copy of the Vista Ultimate, but i don't plan on installing that on a labtop.
-
I received my labtop yesterday afternoon! Man, i was so happy even though i was so tired after baseball practice. I have installed all drivers and i'm very satisfied. My first impressions were O_O, the screen is amazing. Somethings i noticed were that the fingerprint program kills a crapload of ram. (i have 4 gigs and it was taking up 3/4 of it) I'll be posting pictures soon and maybe write a quick review. Oh yeah, does anyone know how to make the window experience rate go up? (everything but the grfx card is over 5. The graphics was at 4.5, so i was wondering is there anyway to get that higher? I installed the latest driver from labtopvideo2go but i'm not sure if that was supposed to help.
-
I got my laptop yesterday. This notebook is really fast, and the LCD screen is amazing, it's better than my desktop computer's LCD monitor. Battery life is pretty good, I get around 2 1/2 hours heavy use, and around 3 1/2 light use.

I ordered a Force 3298 recently (same as the 2092 just different warranty), however I don't think those will be shipping for another week...sigh. It was tough to decide between the two screen resolutions. But in the end I went with the smaller resolution because I thought I might save a few fps by not having to push the 8600 so hard. I'll be looking forward to hearing how everyones 2092 turns out.
I realize I probably didn't need the extra 1gig of Robson, but I don't think it'll slow things down so I got it anyway. I upgraded to the T8300 because I felt it offered the most punch for a reasonable price to performance ratio. It's too bad the gfx card isn't an 8700 or an 8800, but I realize there'd probably be heat issues with the 15.4" chasis. I went all out on Ram because that always seems to be the thing that I upgrade later anyway. So I just went ahead and got it done so I don't have to mess with it later. Probably cheaper to wait a few months and just upgrade from Newegg or something for about half the price.
I kind of wish I would have got the Sager as I'd probably have my laptop by now. But I really like the 3 year warranty in case anything goes wrong. I also figured that since I got the warranty for that I might as well make this thing as bomb proof, warranty wise, as I could and splurged on the Dead Pixel Policy just in case.
I'm debating on whether my decision to get vista ultimate was wise or not. Hindsight tells me it was foolish and will be a huge resource hog and make everything slow. We'll see. I'm hoping for the best with the new processor and 4 gigs of memory and a decent gfx card that everything will move along nicely.

Not sure about Vista, but XP SP2 32bit runs extremely fast with 2GB of ram on these computers.
-

auburncoast Notebook Deity NBR Reviewer
can someone please post a review?! I'm interested in this model and especially with the high specs you guys are posting. Would love to see it work. and pictures! thanks guys.

All i can say about my setup is its amazing. No problems as of yet, and i can run like 10 diff programs at once and no problems, i had like 10 mozilla windows open + aim and cod4 running on ultra high and no lag whatsoever. -
-
Yeah, going for the t9300 would not have been necessary, my labtop already runs extremely fast and i have no problems as of yet. Windows Vista Index scores everything 5.3+ except for windows aero (i got that to 5.0). Actually, one of my best friends is getting the same computer as me but the t9300 and 2 gig of ram on XP, we'll see how fast his runs and if theres really a noticeable difference between the t8300 and t9300

I figured rather than start a new thread I'd try and solicit some feedback here. I recently purchased a 5792 and after trying it out for a couple of weeks it's just not working out. It will be headed back on Monday and I'm wondering if the 2092 might not be the perfect replacement. How are those of you who've had yours for a few weeks finding the noise, battery life, performance, etc.? My biggest issue with the 5792 was that the GPU fan was pretty darn loud. I need a laptop that when browsing the web and checking email is darn near silent. Does the 2092 qualify or will the 8600 be just as noisy as my 7950 was? The next issue that I had with the 5792 was the ~1hr battery life, even when on battery saver. I've read that the 2092 is at least double that and that's good news but I'd love to get some real world feedback. Last, and probably the most minor, was that the way the 5792 was setup the palm of my right hand rested right on the scroll portion of the trackpad and while I was typing my screen would be jumping all over the place. Any one experience anything similar on the 2092? My lenovo (T61p) had none of these types of issue but couldn't cut it from a performance standpoint. I don't need bleeding edge performance and the 2092 seems like it might just be a great compromise.
Thanks in advance.

I can tell you this right now, the 2092 is pretty darn silent (aside from when the cd drive is running for a cd or dvd), even when i play games such as COD4, cs:s, not very loud. The 2092 battery life is amazing, i get about 2.5-3.5 hrs running on high performance out of this sucker, using battery saver or balanced is about 4 hrs. Also, about the touchpad problem, you can download the newest touchpad driver which has a option where you can disable touchpad while typing. I have had no problem as of yet with typing + touchpad. (I've had my labtop for roughly 2 weeks now and i love it). Please feel free to ask me anymore questions, i will be happy to help with whatever you need.
-
For what it's worth I could not hear the HDD unless I put my head next to the keyboard. Sometimes I wondered if it was even working at all. I'm sure it depends on the HDD though.
-
-
yeah, definetly. The only noise is the cd drive when a cd/dvd is running. I definetly think you should give the 2092 a try, i really like it a lot. The screen si beautiful, my setup is insanely fast and its been great.
-
n_maher , if it`s not too late... the latest firmware seem to do the trick. I`ll upload a video about that tomorrow...
So the 579x is the king -
-
Let`s say I`m just more optimistic about future firmwares...
-
-
-
-
hahah glad to hear! 2092 has definetly been awesome, i actually already got 3 of my friends to get sagers (they never even heard of sager). One actually got a 2092 and the other ones are thinking about 9262/5793 or the lower end ones!
-
-
Off those things issue #1 is the clincher, this is a laptop for both of us and so it must be something we both can live with. Having done a bit more research now it seems the 2092 might be more in line with what I need and what she wants. I sure hope so. -
-
Man, if you guys keep this up, I`ll dump my for now 2 and 1/2years girlfriend and become a gaming loving monk. Blasphemy, isn`t it ?
-
). The only rule is, be realistic with yourself about what you're getting into (and, more importantly, what you're asking her to put up with
).
-
Well, love is better than gaming, if you know what I mean
And I can always increase the resolution for more fun
-
-
LOL good one
-
somebody can tell me how many fps this notebook can do on the lastest games? like crysis on medium settings, test drive unlimited ...
Because on my desktop (have Radeon 9600pro) this games looks terrible!! 15fps on low..
Tnx!! -
Radeon 9600pro is ancient tech... It'll look much better on this machine, though how many fps I can't say as I don't own one.
