Whenever I turn on my computer, or I lock the computer, the screen most of the time defaults to a really dark brightness. It is just dark. I have to go to Nvidia control panel and adjust (or just click on) one of the color settings sliders (like brightness gamma etc) to make the screen brighter. It has nothing to do with making the LCD brighter stuff in the mobility center. Does anyone else have this problem?

I've been having an issue with mine coming back from sleep too dark. I can reboot and it comes back up to regular brightness. I know some other people were having this problem, but i don't know if a solution was found.

try going to power settings and pick your power scheme and adjust it from there

it's not that. it seems like the screen defaults to a dark brightness. You can still change the LCD brightness, but the screen and color and everything are just dark. I think it might have something to do with the WOW video thing because when I use that, it also goes dark.

The WOW utility causes the screen to go darker. I uninstalled mine on the first day I had my laptop cuz I hated it.

The WOW utility is pretty silly. I was able to fix the darkness problem using a tool called the Monitor Calibration Wizard. Just google it, it takes you through a few steps to fix colors and brightness/contrast. This way if you do want to keep the WOW stuff, you can.

well actually, won't the WOW utility help you save battery because it can make the LCD dimmer than normal?

You can always set Window's power scheme/settings to control your display (along with other components of your laptop) to save energy when not in use as well as using your brightness controls (Fn+F4 & F5) if you prefer it dimmer while using the display.

yeah but you dont have the WOW utility, which makes things like 5 times dimmer, or maybe just darker. i can't tell
