I've got a Cyberpower laptop I'm trying to track down a BIOS upgrade for. Here's all the pertinent info I think:
BIOS: Phoenix 4.06CJ15
SMBIOS: 2.3
Sys Manufacturer: Midern sag168168
Sys Model: K8T800
Sys Type: X86-based PC
Model: D47k/D470k
S/N: 8502SC840127
Sager System Equivalent: NP4750
Any ideas where I can obtain an upgrade? If there's needed info I didn't include just let me know. Thanks in advance for any help.

Much obliged
.
I'm having an issue with updated graphics drivers knocking out my 3D support. I'm hoping an updated BIOS will correct the issue. -
Bloody hell alright I've run into another problem. Checked that site out and it does have the upgrade however here's the new problem:
-Extract the contents onto a bootable floppy disk
-boot system using created floppy disk, BIOS update should start
-if BIOS update does not start automatically run .bat file from floppy disk
Note: Bootable floppy disk must be created using Win95/98/ME.
Bootable disk created using WinXP will not work properly.
I'm running XP and don't have access to 95/98/ME. Any ideas as to how I can create this boot disk? -
This usually works for me:
Create MS-DOS bootable diskette
When formatting a floppy diskette, users have the option of creating a MS-DOS startup disk, follow the below steps to do this.
1.Place diskette in the computer.
2.Open My Computer, right click the A: drive and click Format.
3.In the Format window, check Create an MS-DOS startup disk.
4.Click Start

Is there anybody out there that has a good link for the Sager NP4750/D470K BIOS Upgrade? -

I also have the (Sager) NP4750 and successfully updated the BIOS to try and get my system to recognize a new Travelstar HD. The drive is the same as the one the laptop originally came with except it is 80G and the previous was 60.
BIOS does show the drive during POST but in BIOS (the new ver.) it shows 11680 as the name. Also, when I try to install XP, the install does not see the drive. Help! Please and thank you!

Welcome to the NBR forums.
thats a strange issue since this notebook does not have SATA or RAID to worry about.
The HDD should just work immediately.... although the BIOS should show the correct name of the HDD.
Maybe you can put the HDD in another notebook or a cheap USB enclosure and format the HDD to NTFS ahead of time, then put the HDD back into the notebook and see if the XP setup sees it. -
Funny you should mention that. I did that with a converter that allows me to plug the drive into the slave interface of the ribbon cable of one of my desktops. I put in two partitions, both NTFS but were not recognized. My install is the XP SP1 upgrade with a licensed copy of Win98 so I also tried adding a Fat32 partition, also with no luck!

One other thing that seems out of the norm. BIOS lists the HD as: @TQ7210.. instead of HTS7210..
-
Just pulled the drive and re-partitioned/formatted using MS Disk Management. Had been using WD Data Lifeguard, which should not have made a difference but ya never know.
Anyway, put the drive back in and re-booted but got the same old stuff. The drive is recognized during boot sequence as:
Fixed Disk 0 "@TQ701080G1AT00"
but in BIOS setup it is listed as Primary Master "11306MB"
??????? -
hm... you tired what I have tried.
this is a 100GB hdd right?
It should work...
I might try another one, another brand to make sure its not the notebook. -
Actually it is an 80G drive. I have put is on the Slave interface of 2 desktop machines and it works perfectly.
I even downloaded the Hitachi Feature Tools utility and have run it from a desktop. Everything checks fine. I can adjust the acoustics, change the ATA version, and it tool sees 80G of the 80G drive.
When I run the same tool on my D470K it sees 80G of the drive but shows it set to 11G and will not let me change it. It also will not let me change any of the other settings!
Additional reading I did on the Hitachi site did reveal that my prior drive was of the 7K60 series of drives and the one I have now is from the 7K100 series. Both are documented as supporting ATAPI-6 so it should not be the issue. Maybe if I roll back the BIOS ver? -
might not be a bad idea to try another BIOS version.
I think you can contact Sager (if thats your vendor) to get their input... or even a final BIOS version. -
Forgot to mention that I also successfully flashed the BIOS again (just in case).
