Ok some of you might already know that I've asked a couple questions on here you guys are really helpful.
I was just wondering, I was talking to one of Sager's production managers about the NP5125 I ordered, and he sent me an email with the product review showing all the things I ordered with it. I ordered the IC Diamond Thermal Compound, cause for an extra 25 bucks why not right? So when you order it it says "IC Diamond Thermal Compound - CPU + GPU"
And when he emailed me it says the thermal compound was on the CPU only. So naturally I asked him about it and this is what he said
"This model GPU is build in on the motherboard, so it does not need Thermal Compound to works!"
Doesn't that mean the GPU is integrated only? Not dedicated? or am I just retarded? or is he bad at communication? this is bugging the crap out of me cause I don't want my laptop to come in and have it not be what I ordered.
It also looks like they stopped selling the NP5125 on Sagernotebook.com
whats up with that?
-
it has both. intergrated and dedicated.
take a look at the user manual > http://rapidshare.com/files/418458455/GS710.pdf.html (it says GS710 but its the same user manual for the 15" & 17" this is the model number from kobalt in the uk but its the same as the NP5125 -
but should I have nothing to worry about? -
good question. im not sure if its built into the cpu or not. just checked the manuel and cant find anything about it. ill hunt the service manual down to see what that says.

1GB DDR3 Nvidia GeForce GT 330M GPU with Optimus Technology / Embedded Intel HD Graphics with Shared Memory up to 1.7GB -
here in the uk kobalt are now shipping the upgraded 425M instead of the 330 at no extra cost. might be worth a go at asking why they are still using the lower card.
cant find a service manual as of yet but ill keep hunting. -
-
The dedicated gpu is also soldered on to the motherboard, however this shouldn't mean that it can't get the IC Diamond treatment
-

i knew theriko would know the answer
any service manuals available for this model theriko? got 3 delivered for work last week. -
When you bought the 25$ compound, it was advertised as "IC Diamond Thermal Compound - CPU + GPU". So, if they don't put compound on GPU, don't accept and ask for refund !
-
I'm pretty sure he's trying to say it's already on there so I'm not too worried -
I don't have the SM for this model, but I do have the one for the 71x0 which should be pretty similar.
-
The vast majority of laptops have their discrete graphics card built in to the motherboard. Sager is one of the few companies that doesn't do this, except on their cheapest models like the np5125. -
thanks for the info though bro i appreciate it. I'm highly into computers so I'm trying to learn everything and every little bit helps. still on the noob side of things though -
The SM for this model is now in my list
-
thanks theriko. ive got 3 of 17" for work so the service manual will come in handy.
