custom gaming laptops - Welcome to Sager Notebooks

Well I just got my first laptop thats going to do anything and everything... the only 2 things that concern me, are #1 its a sandy bridges processor is it not? and they are having some defective issues that degrade the chipsets, and #2 I didint get dead pixel protection... should I be worried? or should I call them up and be like NO WAIT!... how important is it? and whats a dead pixel look like? I have always had a desktop so I have no idea...

I would not worry about your concern #1 as you will not be getting a machine till they have a fixed motherboard. #2 has been discussed here in the Sager forums to no end. The chances are probably small but there is no way of knowing how small. It really is how important it is to you, if it is very than spend the 100 bucks to ensure you get a clean LCD.

Dead pixel is black, stuck pixels are another color.
You'll notice it the first time you turn it.

I dont remember the exact number but I think 5 is the maximum you can have for sager unless you buy the policy. Its 100$ and a stupid policy to sell, because what do you think happens when you buy a screen and policy and get a dead pixel? They give that screen to someone else, as its still within spec.

I'm going to order a Sager NP5160 when I get my tax refund in about 3 weeks or so. If I order it at the end of February, with the recall in effect, how long will it take for me to receive the laptop?

I would say late April, maybe even May. The resellers still have fulfill all pre-orders from Jan. and Feb. before they get to your order in the line. Two months of pre-orders is alot to get thru, without the added troubles of the Intel issue.

    Thanks for the info, hispeed4567.

By the way, how are the speakers on your Sager? I've watched several Sager reviews on YouTube and I'm surprised they don't play at least a few seconds of sound just to let us know how the speakers are.

I haven't gotten my Sager yet, but remember that its laptop speakers. Didn't see any complaints yet from any current owners, so it must be okay. If you want good speaker quality, I heard rave reviews about the Dell XPS seriers and their JBL speakers.

Well, stuck pixel removers seem to do their job perfectly...

Back when I had a stuck pixel, I used the remover and let it run overnight,

it was gone in the morning....

    :D

So il be fine as long as theres 5+ dead pixels? I can still send it back? and the insurance is for those 5?... how noticeable is 5 dead pixels on the laptop? and how common is it? I think I might break down and call them and change my order to add the insurance... but $100 and only for 30 days... I have had a LCD monitor for almost 3 years and I havent seen any dead pixels.... only thing is on a certain color scheme on a webpage I get these little red lines on the color it doesnt like... (I havnt seen a dead pixel on any laptop or lcd for that matter)... it just worries me that sager would offer it... meaning its common?

If you're going to get a Sager/Clevo laptop, it's best for you to look at the resellers or rebranders e.g. XoticPC, Mythlogic, Malibal, AVADirect, Powernotebooks, Kobalt, LPC-Digital...etc. These provide in-depth customer support, a better substitute than Sager itself.
