Ok so im really close to decide which laptop to buy but still having a huge dilemma. Im hoping to get different point of views to help make up my mind.

First, the computer will be for my wife to work (Programmer) and me to game occasionally at lan partys and such.

Right now im looking at the 2 laptops mentioned in title and there is a huge drawback to both in my eyes
    The 5175 has a 17 inch 1080p monitor which I like but a 555m vid card which I dont like as much\
    The 8130 has the 560m vid card which I like...but a 15inch screen.

What do you guys think? For a price range around 1k...there isnt much else available that I could see unless I sacrifice on screen quality (760 instead of 1080) which i dont want to do.

if I had to choose between the 2....do you think it would be better to sacrifice on monitor size or on video card performance? Why?

For people who have the 5175, do you have any regrets when gaming? What is your experience so far?

Admittedly, the game i may play most on it might be diablo 3 which i suspect wont be too demanding, or stuff like dota 2 and guild wars 2...i dont currently play many games and dont know that i will in future but I also dont want to screw myself over by having something that flat out wont work.

If you know of other laptops that include:
    1-17 inch screen in 1080p
    2-gtx560m or similar vid card
for around 1k please let me know which systems. (Im in Canada)

Also to clarify, I looked at some posts and benchmarks and my understanding is the 555m is about 50% worse than the 560

I guess I understand that technically, its worse....so thats not what im looking for in terms of feedback...i guess based on what ill use the laptop for and the value, im wondering if the 560m will really be missed or just a luxury for me. Will I curse each time i game or will be be fine so long as im ok with not playing with ultra settings on 1080p. IE if i am ok to play in 760p with mid-high settings...

This wouldnt be a desktop replacement for sure. my desktop has a pretty good video card.
And im considering that my wife prefers a 17inch screen for programming as she can better view the screen.

    555m will struggle a bit at 1080p.

560m is the minimum I would personally take to game at 1080p, and even then you have to make many sacrifices to do so.

But if you're okay to play in 768p with mid-high settings, the 555m is enough.

Remember - you can buy a separate monitor. Difference between 15.6" and 17.3" aint that much.

Get the second option. Graphics cards are way more important than 1.7" inches.

I do have a computer monitor i can plug the laptop in as well as a nice lcd tv however i guess the other concern is if i go to Lan, then i need to bring notebook and monitor and if my wife is trying to work in bed she will be stuck with the 15. I do appreciate your suggestion tho. I just wish I did not have to choose between the 2 lol

The decision might have been made for your. Sager has just phased out the NP5175 so its no longer available. NP8130 it is!

    Whattttt?
Is that official or is that an upcoming change. IE if I place an order today, seems like it is still available....will they not ship me one?
Any news as to whether they will have a similar model for similar price range coming out?

It's official from Sager it's no longer available, they let us know just about an hour ago. You'll see its removed from their site as well. If you order from a place that still has it listed there's a really good chance you won't get it.

I would have went with the NP8130 anyway.

There aren't any 17.3", 1080p, with a 560M or better around that price. Around that price point you can get something around the GT 540M but thats gonna be a bit of a hit in gaming performance compared to the 560M

What about the MSI Force 1761? I assume the video card is even better than the 560m.

I will try to research and see if its a well reviewed laptop but what is your feedback on that one? Is it good quality? Performance? Value? Lots of returns?

If I were to order one from xoticPC to canada (ottawa, ON) what are the typical added fees would you say? I think $100 shipping...I see no taxes when I add to cart, would the taxes be charges at border? Brokerage fees in average? Im trying to estimate how much more I would need to pay on top of the price I see in the cart in essence.

That is actually a really good alternative. I try not to suggest non Sager models on the Sager section of the forum. The GTX 570M will blow away the GT 555M that was in the NP5175.

For Quality, Performance, Value, and Returns. I think it would be best if you sent me a PM since it's not a Sager, i'll be happy to answer those.

For shipping to Canada we'll collect prices for the computer and shipping costs. Local taxes are due at the time of delivery. Brokerage fees are also collected then but mostly if you just do UPS ground. You mentioned the UPS Canada Express shipping which has brokerage fees included into that price so you will not have to pay on top of that shipping costs, just tax.
