--- Was told to repost this here -- :)

    Hello All!

I have had a Sager NP5760 for awhile now and over a year ago the graphics card started to go bad... At the time I wanted to replace the card but the cost to fix it was outrageous, something like $450. Now after doing some more research and wanting to use this $2000+ laptop I bought awhile ago, I was hoping someone could let me know what graphics cards would work with it.

Right now it has the nVidia GeForce GO 7900 GTX in it, but I would just like something that would work and not show artifacts all over my screen. If anyone has any answers I would really appreciate it as I would love to use my laptop again.

    Thank you! :)

You may only be allowed to go up to a 7950m with that but I am not totally sure.

You could try and bake your card. Sounds funny but I did it with my 9800m last week and now it works again with no artifacts. Pretty much followed the guide below but removed old thermal paste with rubbing alcohol and reapplied new paste before placing back in laptop.

The sager NP5760 (M570U) is NOT MXM. It is a clevo proprietary socket, so more difficult to get cards for. Unfortunately you have the last in the line of clevo gaming laptops that is not MXM.

Yes you are right, and also i noticed that there is 20 Watt difference between the two cards. and the last update in the M570U BIOS was in may 2008 before the release of the FX 2700M in august 2008; so a lot of chance that the BIOS will not recognize it. And in any way the most important, as you mentioned, it will not physically fit.

Thanks for the advice. I guess one of my real issues right now is the fact that since the card is so hard to find I can't get a replacement, I see ones on eBay that are like Gateway and Dell GeForce GO 7900 GTX's but I don't want to shell out $200+ for one if its not going to work. I was also wondering is there a lower tier card like a 6800 or something that would work so I can widen my search results? I really don't need it for gaming anymore and more for just work.

I guess if there is no other option I can always bake my card like brownstonemr mentioned. :(

Well thanks for all the advice/help fellas. I think I'm gonna call it quits on this one and see if I can get the laptop a new owner who might be able to spend more time with it than I can.

I'm selling it on eBay here is the thread if anyone is interested. :)
