(If this is more appropriate for the BST forum, I apologize. I thought asking the Sager heads themselves might be a better move. Mods: please move if needed)

    Howdy

I was curious if anyone has a reasonable idea of the resale value of a Sager NP5760-C.

I purchased it from Powernotebooks.com in July 2006.

    Simplified stats are as follows.

    2.0ghz cpu
    60gig hd
    1gig ram
    Nvida 7900GTX 512meg
    1680x1050 Glossy
    DVD-RAM

    DEAD Battery :(

I've checked on eBay but the few prices are spread out over a large range. I'd appreciate any estimates along with any links to similar products and their going rates.

    Thanks for any input.

still good for at least $900-1200.... considering that DDR2 ram is cheap and so are 160GB+ HDDs.

The 7900GTX is still a powerhouse for gaming.

Wow? Really? That's a pleasant surprise. I figured it would depreciate more than that.

if you sell it here on NBR, it would still fetch around $900-1000.

make sure its fans and vents are cleaned out. ;)

LOL. Good to see you remember my little frantic inquiry on why my laptop was overheating :D

As for selling here on NBR versus eBay, are there any obvious pro's or cons? I have no experience on eBay, so my friend was going to post it for me. While that may seem kinda shady he has a really good rep, and he doesn't want it tarnished so he has threatened me with physical harm if I purposefully/inadvertently screw him/the buyer over.

On NBR you`d get less since there are more educated customers here, but I`d sell it here anyway for a better reason, you know you`ll deal with a real person and not an ebay scammer.
As Gophn said, about 1k should be ok.

*nod* very good reasoning. It would also keep me from having to use my friend as a 3rd party, which I wasn't to thrilled about (nor was he I think).

Another question if you'll indulge me: While I know eBay isn't a necessarily 100% secure place, the simple fact that there is a medium/structure that the sale is going through seems more secure then selling one on one here. Is this a none issue though? I'd assume PayPal is the best way to go, and I know PayPal offers some level of protection, so does this negate the "benefit" of going through the structure of eBay?

While I do agree with your above point, it just seems more risky to me to be selling one on one without the support of some outside 3rd party/arbitrator.

    Gophn...

I've been thinking about the original price range you quoted at the top. Do you really think an almost 2 year old laptop could resale for $1000? I've looked at some of the FS's here on NBR and laptops with similar/better stats are being posted for less.

Obviously what it's actually posted at and what it's "actually" worth might be different, but after contemplating it for awhile $1000 seems... well almost too good to be true.

(Note: not trying to question your knowledge or anything, it's just that $1000 seems almost too good)

My notebook would fetch $1200-1500 still if you are wondering. :)

It would not hurt posting your notebook in the Buy Sell Trade section.

You can start at $1000 and ask for better offers.

Thanks again for the help Gophn.

I think I will toss it up here first before trying it on eBay.

Keep your eyes peeled for it in the coming days ;)

It would be best to start high then ask if anyone would make an offer. But since you've already posted... w/e
