the white trim lovers probably don't want to look like a 'gamer' but want their notebook to look stylish and classy. in that case the more neutral white trim is their best choice ;)
i like both, but i'm going for the white one for the same reason.

Sager NP5790 (M570RU) will have 2 color ID options on the frame trim color...Orange and White. Currently the Orange is finalized and will be shipped first around Early July. The White trim version is currently set to be shipping mid August. Sager has planned to carry both color trims as soon as the 2nd version is ready and available.

The trim versions will have the identical placement, only the colors will be different.

Lawlz!!! You crack me up!! You ask the same questions in different areas over and over. I think you started out wanting an Asus and now you are on a Clevo.

My advice to you is to calm down. Go ahead and bite the bullet and order!

yeap I emailed them on Thursday and Friday and also today.

I also called them today but all they said was to email their sales department with what I want to do and I should receive an email shortly, I'll try getting a hold directly of the sales department over the phone, best of wishes guys.

Welcome to the NBR forums :)

    The Clevo M570RU:
    - has Dual-Link DVI out
    - the DVI is HDCP compliant
    - you can use a HDMI to DVI cable if you want to output to an HDMI display

whoops, EDIT: I mean it supports Dual-Link DVI

its physically one DVI port, but has support for Dual-link DVI for those that might want to use WQXGA (2560 × 1600)

    Mine says Via ( Clevo 5790 )

I asked about this on this board, because I heard of different ones before.
Now I can take a look myself and it says Via.

OK conflicting reports but poskok actually has one in front of him....

Pokok: Do you have the Sager or the Clevo?

Is it possible they are making two different runs of laptops Texas Instruments and VIA???

Sager, but sgouldn't it be exactly the same. Chipset is not something Sager would add/change themselves..

I'd like to see others take a look ( there must be a few guys/girls who have them ) and report what they have.

The M570RU Manual is on the Clevo website:

    http://www.clevo.com.tw/download/USRManualOut.asp?model=M57xRU&menual=+GO+

It's very good but lacking on some technical details.

I've been trying to find the contrast ratio and brightness (nits) for the different LCD options... mostly 1680x1050 vs 1920x1200.

I'm torn on which resolution to get. I want the 1920x1200 for work but the 1680x1050 for gaming.

If you run at 1680 on the 1920 LCD do you have different display options? For example on my dell I can "stretch" or "reduce". Stretch looks blurry, but reduced only occupies a small part of the screen (1680x1050 of course).

The M570RU manual shows a F7 function option for switching LCD but I'm guessing this is switching between internal, external, and dual display modes.

    Any thoughts?

I remember seeing a post that gave the specifics of the WSXGA+ and WUXGA+ screens for the 5790 but now I can't seem to find it. Does anyone know what the contrast and the details of the screens used on this laptop are?

If I remember correctly it was something like:

    WSXGA+ = 500 contrast, 26ms, and matte finish 1620x1090
    WUXGA+ = 400 contrast, 26ms, and glossy finish 19..X....

I really hope to get my order sent this coming week.

    Thanks for the help

The firewire port is used for high speed data transfer (faster than USB). It is used for a lot of digital video cameras and some external hard drives.

XoticPC does have the option to select Turbo Memory (for an additional $35) on the 5791 they sell: http://www.xoticpc.com/product_info.php/cPath/51_150/products_id/2023?wconfigure=yes

well faster than USB 1.1 (which is 12Mbps)...however not as fast as USB 2.0 (480Mbps)

The Firewire port there is the 1394 port which is 400Mbps...apple has firewire ports now at 800Mbps.

When Firewire first came, if i am not mistaken, it was supposed to replace the SCSI interface. However when USB 1.1 came out, it seemed to be more favoured as it was true plug 'n play, whereas with firewire you still had to install drivers

ex. I had an apple ipod (3rd gen) both capable of Firewire and USB. with firewire i had to install drivers, but with USB it was read perfectly on XP (pre SP2, and i think SP1)
