I think that should be fine, Seagate Momentus 7200.2 HDD's operating temperature is from 0 to 60 C degrees.

So I would not be too concerned unless if it floats past the 60C mark... going into the dreaded 65C+ temps.

Hmm, that seems a little bit warm, but I don't think I'd be too worried. Sitting on the Zalman cooler going full blast, my 7200 RPM HD sits around 50-55 C (sitting at 51C idle at the moment, according to Notebook Hardware Control).

I just ordered the laptop with 1920x1200 WUXGA w/glossy display, now if i convert the display to 1680x1050 (to maximize fps in games) will that in the long run or short run diminish the display at all?

Diminish the display? If you're asking if it will damage the display, there is no conceivable way that running at a lower resolution could do that, over any length of time.

Is anyone elses optical drive extremely loud, and makes vibrations?

When its reading it vibrates so much I can feel it through my thick lap desk (that has a cushion under the hard surface) and makes so much noise I can hear it in the other room. It can be heard over almost everything else.

Is there anything I can do?

That's odd. Mine's pretty quiet; sometimes as it's spinning up or spinning down it will make a noise that reminds me of an inkjet printer running back and forth, but it's only for a split second. The actual sound of the disc spinning is practically silent unless you put your ear up to it - it's a little bit quieter than the fans. I can just barely feel the vibration with my left wrist resting on it.

You should contact your reseller and see what you can do. If I were to guess I'd say that it may not have been screwed into the case properly.

I guess I better. Its almost to the point where it seems violent.

Everything else about this notebook is perfect. I love it.

edit: damn, it isn't even recognizing discs without reinserting the disc a few times. When I put a CD (not dvd) in, the drive blinks green for a while and the icon in My Computer changes to CD-Rom, and there aren't any files in there. I really don't want to have to reinstall all my software again if I return this.

the wireless is very good, I haven't disconnected from my wireless network once. Reliable I would say.

the mic, I haven't really tried it but my comments on it are that unless you put your mouth like 1-2 inches away from it you won't be able to record your voice.

this means that while you are playing a game you won't be able to comfortably just talk into the mic. You would have to be pretty close to it then talk unfortunately.

The microphone is on the bottom-right corner of the laptop

The mic on these Clevo's are ok for vent or teamspeak.

I use it on occasion with UT2004 and BF2/2142... but I would usually use my Logitech USB headset... that turned was originally use with SOCOM on my PS2 :D

If it isn't too much trouble, could you try the Supreme Commander demo on this machine?

I've used the mic a lot in vent and teamspeak for a number of games since I got this computer (WoW, BF2142, etc).

I had to boost the input volume in the settings for each (no 'microphone boost' though, that never works well in my experience), and I'm told I'm a bit softer than when I use my headset (logitech notebook), but I'm understandable.

I have some x-540 surround speakers that I plug into what is normally the line-out and mic-in spots, so it's nice to have a built in mic, even if it's not the loudest in the world.

    @ Joga
Which version of Fear were you using? I used the performance test with 1.02 and I only got min 20 average 38 max 81 with most of them between 25 and 40.
I used the exact same settings than you but only 1600x1200 because that's all 1.02 can do. Was Fear optimized that much? Can't download the new patchs because my university has a traffic limit and I don't want to be banned again ;)
I searched Vista 64bit for everything I could think of to increase speed, did I miss something? Or is it just Fear not being optimized?
My Vista scores are normal for graphic 5.9, strange...
Well if anyone could enlighten me it would be great! :)
EDIT: Just disabled UAC and removed speedfan, hdtune and rivatuner.
But more important I set nvidia control panel to let the games decide the settings. Stupid me had the setting on high quality and 8x AA enabled
    min 35 average 60 max 134 with 88% over 40 fps

The only game that really blew me away was Quake 4, I mean, I ran it at 1280 , 8Xaa , all maximum and it went well over the playable limits. Super sweet unexpected performance :D
All other games run smooth as expected :>

First please allow me to introduce myself. I am Jason Jacobs the owner of Techware Labs the website used here in referencing a laptop created by Killer Notebooks. As a policy of my website and the staff which I employ all of our reviews must be as technically accurate as possible, and we do not allow direct links to our images without our permission. I have no idea who Gophn is or whose interests he has in mind but his information is both seriously technically flawed as well as hotlinking our images.

While I expect that these issues will arise all the time from individuals who are less than ethical and less than courteous I am a bit surprised that the admins here have allowed it to occur without editing the post as erroneous nor even contacting me or at least hosting the images locally.

Please do me the courtesy of contacting me first before you slander my website, my staff, and my reviews so I may return the courtesy and contact my lawyer who will as I am sure bury you in a forest of legal action paperwork.

I have taken the liberty to correct the images quoted with ones that represent technically correct and updated ones. Gophn you have my permission to choke on them. Do not let me find you mis-quoting and abusing my website for your gain again.

Well this isn't at all fishy, somebody digging up a thread that's six months old to support KillerNotebooks.

And welcome to the forums, I don't suggest sticking around though with that tone. Closing this thread, as it was long ago dead anyway.
