So I am a new proud owner of the Sager NP5791, just got it from eurocom. However the only negative experience I have is the fan noise. Every 1 min, ontop of the regular fan noise I am comfortable with, it will rev up for 10 secs and then back down. You can see my specs in the signature.

Currently I am using vista64bit, so I am wondering, is there any apps that can control the fan speed? Tried speedfan, but it cannot detect any fans. My temps are good, from what I remember, both cores are below 20c's (this seems too low and may be suspect), hdd around 50c. Nothing in the bios will allow me to adjust the fanspeed, which sucks really. I am thinking of taking it apart, reapplying with artic silver5 and see if that will make a difference. I may contact eurocom though to see if I can do anything to alleviate it.

I do know there was a post about this before and the person had their mic on, so I have already checked that, by just turning it off.

    Anyone else having this issue?

you could possibly try undervolting your CPU to help reduce heat which would in effect make you fans not have to work as much.

    idk about the rev'ing though

yeah i had to ship my back to eurocom, bc when i opened it and took a look at how the thermal grease was applied, i was shocked how much grease was just slathered on the vid card. problem is i forgot to take out the battery so i may have a dead vid card, which i am hoping is not the case and it just a fried motherboard. I did noticed an improvement, sans display, it did not rev up as much when in idle.
