Is the pixel policy worth it? Did any of you get dead pixels? which lcd should i get 1680x1050 or 1920x1200? the latter would be harder to see dead pixels since theres more right?

I saw a thread in the XoticPC forums where a customer who bought a Sager NP9262 had one dead pixel..
2. Upto you, it's your personal preference ~ resolution AND matte/glossy.
3. Definitely! -

I've had a 15.4" (1680 x 1050) laptop with 2 dead pixels. You can hardly see them and then only if you look at them with a static picture (and I am a VERY picky person with these things).
You don't notice anything when playing games or watching movies since the picture is always changing.
I've also had a 15.4" laptop with a lower resolution (1280 x 800) and one dead pixel and you could clearly see it.
The higher resolution really helps. Trust me, get the higher res. It is definitely worth it.
Besides the upgrade to a higher res screen costs much less than the "Dead Pixel Guarantee" option. -
Plus you have a 30 day period to return it in case of anything, so the policy is not worth it.

I have two dead pixels (one red and one white). To put it into perspective amount where they are located, they are at row and column 1x1200 and 1x1500 (right along the top of the 1900x1200)

I purchased an M570RU (not from xoticpc) with the 1680x1050 matte screen. I have one dead pixel on the right side near the edge. I went out of my way to test the screen when I got it or I'd never have noticed it at all.
It just took me about 10 seconds to find it again when I went looking for it, knowing it was there. An individual pixel is so small at these resolutions that a single dead pixel just looks like a piece of dust on the screen.
I'd say skip the dead-pixel insurance and just plan on returning the laptop if there's really a problem with the screen. A stuck on pixel would be different, but a single (or even two) dead pixels is really no big deal. -
Well, by D901C that I just got this week has 2 hot pixels. I hardly notice them, but if I get 1 more hot pixel that I get to trade in the system per the 1 year standard warranty that I got.

i cannot stand dead pixels of any kind so i opted to get the no dead pixel garuantee.
-
The main thing is not go looking for them...i bet many of us had them but did not even notice.
-
And at 1900 X 1200 you bet i wont be looking for them even if they exist... -
Exacty. 1920x1200 pixels means that 1 pixel will hardly be visible any way. Only on static ,monochromed backgrounds...
But it's a personal preference,mine is dead/hot pixel free,thankfully -
No dead pixel policy is just a way to make money off of picky people's heads. I heard there is a program that pinpoints where the dead pixels are in your screen. But seriously, 99% of the time, you would have never noticed if you didn't look for it. Do yourself a favour and put the money toward something more practical like an extended warranty or something.

DeadPixelBuddy, ( http://rowicom.nl/soft/DeadPixelBuddy/DPB.exe) a very small, stand-alone program.
I think I saw a dead pixel on my 1920x1200 when it was on red, but I only saw it from about 4 inches away and at certain angles and my eyes hurt too bad trying to focus on such a small area. Now I have a headache, thnx. Maybe I should get a magnifying glass and check again, then I can return my laptop to Xotic (did not get policy but within 30 days) and have to wait for and set up a new one.
FYI: I would rather have 10 dead pixels then have to constantly clean dust off with my microfiber cloth!!! -
i had one on my first system and i have 0 on this one i have now.. imo not worth it.. you will notice then in the first 30 days and if so send it on back

I would imagine that Xotic would give it a check to make sure it was passable, at least. It's not good business shipping subpar hardware.
