On a Sager NP5793 with the WSXGA+ (1680x1050) "Super Clear Glossy" screen... can it be set to 1440 x 900 and still fill the entire 17" screen... or does it crop the viewable image with black bars?
Thanks!

it doesn't crop out.
it scales.
it will look best @ native tho.
fuzzy slightly if you don't use native. -
the screen will stretch to the full screen... as default.
You can have it scale within the Nvidia Control Panel.
But there is no need to do that for desktop and web usage.
As for gaming, it will stretch to full screen on which ever resolution you choose. -
Erm.... it won't crop the screen. It will fill the whole screen.

I suppose I should ask if it has the 1440 x 900 resolution?
I use 1440 x 900 now and can view things really well with this resolution. If the print gets any smaller... I am gonna be in trouble. -
that's pretty low.
these are high end notebooks. and only have and use High Resolution screens.
you could scale it like others have suggested. with some tweaks it should look fine. -
At eurocom ( http://eurocom.ca), you can order this laptop with that resolution screen (look for m570ru divine-x under mobile workstations)

Ouch! The same system cost me about $250 more through them.
So I suppose this scaling does not look so good huh? -
don't trust their web prices.
if you talk to them they will match. and do it well. they gave me cheaper than Xotic with cheaper shipping too. matched config. -
Ahh... that may help me some then. I just posted this thread and am having troubles deciding which way to go. One of the reasons is because Sager dealers do not discount much.

Call eurocom and push extension 238
ask for John Shore.
He is very nice and great for sales. he gave me an awesome deal on my notebook. -
Sounds like a plan... surely it cannot hurt to call him.
