Sooo like lots of people, I've gotten the green jack of death. It's not entirely dead for me yet? I can push down on it some, and usually after 20-30 seconds of trying I get the sound coming out stereo. It's gotten much worse over time though, at first it was very quick to fix and now it's longer/more annoying etc.

I've read some previous threads about stuff like this, and most people seem to be suggesting the Creative Xi-fi Extreme Audio Notebook expresscard as a good solution! Now from looking for it online, it seems to be discontinued or something? The closest thing I found for sale is http://www.amazon.com/Creative-Labs-ExpressCard-Blaster-Notebook/dp/B001BS3A3E/ref=pd_cp_e_0 This.
Is this the same thing/an updated version of it? And will it still be compatible with the laptop etc.
Alsoooo ontop of all this, I've been thinking about upgrading to Windows 7. Running the windows 7 upgrade advisor, it detects that the driver for "ENE PCI Memory Stick Card Reader Controller", and "ENE PCI Secure Digital / MMC Card Reader Controller" both aren't compatible with Windows 7.
And since I couldn't find anything else that really sounded like it could be the expresscard slot, I assumed one of these possibly is? So a confirmation on if upgrading to Windows 7 would screw up using the sound card would be nice, too!
Or any other suggestions!
Thanks.

http://search.dell.com/results.aspx?k=creative x-fi xtreme audio notebook sound card
It works well with Windows 7 as do both the secure digital/MMC Card Reader Controller. I don't remember now but I may have had to go to the manufacturer website to download the latest driver or else I got them from one of the driver update software programs that I have.

I don't see the xi-fi xtreme audio notebook on the dell link you posted? No idea if I'm just being really blind (looked through it all twice), or if it's not there anymore or something.
Also I assume the Xi-fi notebook ( http://www.amazon.com/Creative-Labs-ExpressCard-Blaster-Notebook/dp/B001BS3A3E/ref=pd_cp_e_0) is just sub-par from the Xi-fi xtreme audio notebook? Either way, I need to find some store that actually sells it!
Thanks a lot for the Windows 7 info though, know I at least know it won't be too much trouble if I get one.
So yeah, any help on locating a store that sells the xi-fi xtreme audio notebook would be helpful. ...Or info on the other card I linked above if it's impossible for me to get this one.
