Alright, XoticPC has mentioned these to be the features of the 5793's sound card.
Is that good for a person who was quite satisfied with AC'97 audio in his desktop?
Will the sound from the laptop using headphones be better than that?

An HD card is very good, so no need to worry about sound quality

Yes, the audio card in the 579x will be better than any integrated audio card in desktops. But be warned, if you want good audio quality, XP is the way to go since Vista uses software processing...

XP uses software processing as well, there is no sound hardware acceleration on 5792/93.

The sound quality is good, however the speakers are not too hot. Also they are not very loud, probably because they point to the sides, instead of forward as on many other notebooks.

Okay well I'm sticking to Vista. So will the sound in games with the laptop's audio on vista be better than my ac'97 ?
Are there good drivers out for the internal sound card of it ? And any software? Like my ac97 has some software "RealTek Sound manager".

That was in regard to using external sound card, sorry I forgot to mention that.

But in retrospective, as somebody who used onboard sound in both XP and Vista, Xp is much better.
No, the volume is not VERY loud, but the SRS WOW thing really increases the volume. The bass is somewhat lacking although there is a subwoofer in there(smallest one in the world probably). Volume and crispness should be sweet, but bass...well...that`s another story.
I use external headsets and a pair on altec lansing speakers....awesome sound.

No buddy, forget the inbuilt speakers! I'm asking only with respect to a good pair of headphones that I'll use while gaming....

In that case, yes, you`ll have the realtek manager to do whatever your hear desires. Set for bass , treble etc , environments...and the sound will pretty much depend on the type of speakers/headphones used.
I only use good quality ones :D
    You won`t be dissapointed.

That's great then. Thanks! :) Btw, does it support EAX ? And it doesn't have 24-bit audio, does it ?

It does have HD Audio (24 and maybe 32bit), but don't think it has EAX.

    It has EAX 2.0

The sound quality is good, its need some configuration within the RealTek software.
Set the Environment option to Carpeted Hallway. And if you want even more quality, set the Equalizer to Soft (as in Soft Rock)

Thats for overall improvement in sound quality.

You should adjust the equalizer to another category depending on which ever type of music you are listening to.

That's more than good enough for me :D
I know this option in some games "EAX Advanced HD"... so will this laptop support that ?

It should do fine... as well as any other integrated sound card. :)
