    Yay! New dilemma..
Okay so the 9262 costs just a little more than a 5793....
What I would PREFER is this :
    Quad core CPU
    SINGLE 8800M GTX

Now I know 5793 doesn't have quad and 9262 has SLI support I dont need....
and I'm happy without a quad as well, just would prefer it.

I'm currently ready to buy both notebooks irrespective of the price difference..
So would you guys please compare the weight/size/noise/battery life and others of the two lappys for me? Thanks!

Weight: 9262 is about 4-5 pounds heavier
Size: both are comparable, but 9262 is a bit thicker
Noise: 9262 is quieter due to its size and venting.
Batterylife: 5793 will give you 2-2.5 hours... as compared to 1-1.5 hours on 9262

Is all the lack in portability AND the extra cash, worth for just a quad core that I really desire ?

why do u need a quadcore... name a game in the next 3years..

your GPU will be completely utterly outdated before u "REQUIRE" a duel core

top games at the moment recommend a 2.2 duel and require "any duel regardless of speed"

expect a recommended of 2.4 in 2009 and so on

Okay that's cool! Thanks! I'm still with the 5793 then with 2.5Ghz Penryn. :D

Agree that games are mostly GPU limited current. Also, with mobile quad cores coming out in less than a year I'm not sure I'd get a notebook with a desktop quad core in it now. I assume the mobile processor systems will be a bit easier to carry around, and have a more reasonable battery life.

That doesn't matter to me (because I have to buy a laptop in under a month now), unless I can upgrade the 5793 to a quad core later upon release ?

Oh well... as you said, the GPU is of more concern to gamers of today, and 2.5Ghz C2D is fine for a few years, right ?

If you get a decent 5793 , heck, when the new best thing comes out you`ll either be able to upgrade or sell this one and get the top of the line.
Buying the more expensive 9262 is justified if you need extreme performance, don`t care about portability that much and absolutely need the power for at least 1 year(SLI I mean)...otherwise, the 5793 is the perfect balance. :)

Yep, I wouldn't get the 9262 if I didn't at least 'think' of getting SLI.

The 5793 will be plenty of power for the majority of your uses.

The other thing to think about, is multiple hard drives.

I have 600GB storage in my 9262 because I am using it as my absolute main PC. I use it at home, I use it at work, I use it on the job at client's homes so I do keep a lot of files/media on my laptop at all times.

I did not want the reliability issues of having to carry around an external drive all the time. who knows what can break if it has moving parts.

Sounds like you are a good candidate for the 5793 though.

Yeah storage was another concern.... I really wanted more than just 250GB... although sager and xoticpc is now ready to specially offer me a 320gb one, I'd still like more... nonetheless, 320GB is still VERY sufficient. And I'll be going ahead with that on the 5793 :)
