I might be deciding to cut down on the blue-ray drive because of the money, but I was wondering if there is any point to still get the 1920x1200 screen if I can't watch blue-ray stuff anymore. Can the Sager NP 5797 still play games at 1920x1200 res? like some of the "less" intensive ones???: Left4Dead, FEAR 2, Red Alert 3, The Witcher, Mass Effect, *predicted* Starcraft 2, Diablo 3, etc.
my config is:
-P9600 (2x2.66GHz) 6MB L2 cache
-4GB DDR3 1066MHz
-Nvidia GTX 280m.

Depends if you like the extra space on the screen. If you don't really like it that much, you can go for the WSXGA+ screen, which will stress the GPU less when running at native res.

The games listed will play fine at native res. I play L4D & RA3 at max settings native res on my 8800M GTX at 1920x1200

Yeah my personal preference is 1920x1200 with 17inch and 1650x1050 at 15.4 inch. I Plan to buy a Blue-ray drive later when they come down in price :3. Same with SSD. But all the games you listed will run easy as cake with that card at that rez. Almost a crime not to get a 1920 screen with a card that nice, although a smaller screen would future proof it more. It depends mostly on how long you plan on keeping the laptop. Hell You might be able to run crysis at native rez on high :3

thanks! I guess I'll get the 1920x1200 screen, and then wait for the slim blue-ray drives to drop down in price.
And I don't see anything wrong playing a game lower than native res of the screen. -
Oh my lord. The BR upgrade is only $145 now?! used to be $400 just half year ago!
Sager NP5797: any point in getting the 1920x1200 with noy blue-ray drive?
