    Hi guys,

I'm in a bit of a dillemma. I was set on the 6165 but now i have two options. For $1570, I can get the 6165 with:

    - 95% Gamut Matte Screen
    - i7 3610
    - 16GB RAM
    - 256 Crucial M4
    - 750 HDD (secondary)
    - GT 650M 1GB GDDR5 Graphics

For $1565, I can get the 9130 with

    -95% Gamut Matte Screen
    - i7 3610
    -16GB RAM
    - 256 Crucial M4
    - NO Secondary
    - GTX 670M 1.5 GDDR5 Graphics

My Questions: which is better? Is sacrificing the extra 750GB HDD on the 6165 worth the improvement in graphics? I can always bring external HDD to college for more storage once 256 is not enough.

Are there any other advantages that the 9130 has over the 6165, i.e build quality, speakers, lack of known faults, etc.

I would be using it for school (engineering major, so CAD and coding) web browsing, some gaming (SC2 and BF3)

Thank you all so much for your help. Which would you go with?

Do you really need 16 GB of RAM? Usually 8 GB is enough. Also, I do believe that the 6165 is lighter, but the 650M will struggle at 1080p screen, which I think the 6165 has. However, it should run cooler and quieter as it is Kepler whereas 670M. This is sort of your decision, whether you need the extra graphics boost or you. You need to step back, and ask if you'd rather carry around a heavier, performance laptop, or a lighter, but slightly weaker, laptop.

the 16GB RAM upgrade on the 9130 is Free right now for a Sager Special promo thing. I don't NEED it but why not if it's free

Get the SSD off newegg or amazon for cheaper.
    650m + 750gb HDD != 670m

That's a very odd comparison. 650m is Kepler so more energy efficient and less heat, but considerably weaker than 670m.

I say go for the more powerful gpu. Storage is cheap whereas gpu upgrade is not.

Better yet get an AMD 7970m. Before someone mentions drivers issues, not everyone is affected and Sager has also opened a ticket with AMD on this issue.

I'd kind of like to resurrect this thread. I've been planning on buying a Clevo for a few months now, but I keep vacillating between this same choice. I would most likely put a 128 Gb msata drive in the 9130/P151 so that I can have a boot drive and a storage drive, but I recently considered doing the same thing to the 9150/P150. The exact same configuration ended up costing nearly $200 more.

I know that the 9150/P150 has a backlit keyboard, but what else does it have going for it that makes it so much more expensive?

The NP9150/P150EM has a rubberized finish, a larger PSU (180W, as I recall), a backlit keyboard, and supports GPUs more powerful than the 670M. The NP9130/P151EM has a glossy finish, a smaller PSU (120W), no backlit keyboard, and does not support anything above the 670M. There also were, a while back, some issues with ghosting on the NP9150/P150EM's keyboard, although I don't know if it's been resolved.

Unless you really need the backlit keyboard or are going to upgrade to a more powerful GPU, there's no reason to get a NP9150/P150EM over a NP9130/P151EM.
