So right at the $1,000 to $1,100 price range, what exactly are the advantages of the Clevo-based system over HP's offerings? I have included sample images of similarly prices machines. In fact, if you downgraded the DV6T's video card from 2GB to 1GB, they would be exactly the same price.

From what I can see, the Sager only has the following things going for it:
    1) Faster stock RAM
    2) Better Wi-Fi Card
    3) Faster stock HDD
    4) 2nd HDD bay for future expansion
    5) Better thermal compound on CPU + GPU

The advantages of the HP include:
    1) 2GB GDDR5 on the 650M as opposed to 1GB
    2) 250GB more hard drive space
    3) Windows 7 preinstalled
    4) Blu-ray player
    5) mSATA slot

Of course, all contributions welcome. I'm looking at these machines in particular because while they remain below the 1.2k mark, they can still handle games fairly well and both have access to the Ivy Bridge processors.

    Anything I've missed?

That extra gig of video memory won't be of much use unless you plan to be doing graphic-intensive stuff across multiple monitors.

Ok, so now the machines are the exact same price, except one comes with more storage (albeit slower) and the $90 OS already installed.

Is the cooling system on the Sager really that much better?

The HP is a good option. Here is why:

    -HP has better driver support
-spare batteries for HP can be bought everywhere
-spare AC chargers can be bought everywhere
-I assume there is also a disk of HP utilities software that might be useful
-you get Windows 7 preinstalled (if you don't have your own copy, thats perfect)
-free blueray (not sure if you will need that...ever.)

So, it all comes down to appearance now. And shipping times. I assume you can pick up that HP right away in the store.

Im not sure what LED panels are used in both machines. This is something that needs to be looked at.
If the LED on the Sager is better, go for Sager, if not - go HP.
