    Hey, everyone!

I got my new Sager NP6852 today! But I'm having trouble with a couple things.

    This is my new laptop.

On my old laptop, you were able to scroll with one finger on the right side of the touchpad. So far on this one, you can only scroll on the left side with two fingers and you can get to this setting through Windows 10 settings under devices. I can't seem to find the actual touchpad software or program to change anything. All I can find is the settings in the Windows 10 settings. Am I doing something wrong and is there a way to fix this issue?

Also, it turns out there's an Intel graphics card along with the Nvidia one. How do I make sure the Nvidia is the default one that my programs will use?

I hope I posted this in the right place and thank you for any help.

If I recall correctly, the Synaptics touchpad software - where you would normally configure gestures - has been done away with in favor of controlling things through Windows 10. This has been the case with other devices that had proprietary software back in Win 7, too (e.g. the webcam and the fingerprint reader).

As for NVidia: You can designate which graphics chip to use through the NVidia Control Panel > Manage 3D applications.

Does this model have a setting in the BIOS to disable Optimus?

    Nope, just the P65/67xx models.

    Thank you for your replies!

Does that mean I can't change these settings? Because even the two finger drag isn't really working.

How are you employing the gesture? It should be that you move two fingers up or down, not keep one in place and move the second finger.

I'm using two fingers and moving them together, but still it hardly registers the action :(

I'm having another issue, a BIG issue and I didn't want to clog the forum with another thread. I hope it's okay to ask it here. I was on my laptop which is currently compressing the hard-drive and all of a sudden my screen dimmed. Then it went back to normal and then did it a few times in a row after like 5 minutes. WHAT'S GOING ON? I'm freaking out here and would really appreciate any help.

Try reinstalling, or updating, your touchpad driver.

No worries. Did you have your AC adapter connected? Or running on battery when this happened?

I did what you suggested and downloaded the drivers/software from both the Synaptics site, which didn't work, and the Sager site. It seems to be working a little now, but it seems like a crapshoot.

It was plugged in but hasn't done it since. I think it's okay now.

    I'M SO FRUSTRATED.

I've been trying to access the color settings in the Nvidia control panel, but options to change the colors, resolution, ect. don't even show up. All that is there is adjust image settings with preview, manage 3D settings, and configure surround, PhysX. I'm pretty sure my desktop display is still using the Intel card because when I go to Control Panel > Appearance and Personalization > Display> Change display settings> Advanced display settings> Display adapter properties it says Intel HD Graphics 630. How do I change that so I can get to the display/color settings through Nvidia?

    Thank you

Optimus systems don't get any of those settings since the internal LCD is actually connected directly to the Intel GPU. You'll need to use the equivalent colour settings in the Intel control panel.
The Nvidia Control panel will only give you game settings (where you can select your default GPU and create profiles). Optimus works by funneling the output of the Nvidia GPU to the Intel one which is then displayed.

Furthermore, if you plug an external monitor into your laptop, you'll get all the monitor colour/resolution settings back as they are connected to the Nvidia GPU and not the Intel one.

You should definitely NOT use the Windows disk compression (ie the one available when you right-click the drive and go to Properties). It can make recovery incredibly difficult if you ever have issues with the drive or OS. As far as the brightness is concerned, the things I can think of that would do that are:
    1. Adaptive Brightness going crazy. I suggest disabling it. You can do this in: Control Panel -> Power Options -> Edit Plan Settings -> Change Advanced Power Settings -> Display -> Enable adaptive brightness. Select "Off for both"
    2. If your power connector is not quite seated properly it may be half in/out causing the brightness to vary.

EDIT: Almost forgot. For the touchpad, edge scrolling is generally not support anymore as two-finger is considered more ergonomic and less error prone. You may need to adjust the touchpad settings in the Windows options (Settings->Devices->Touchpad).

You may want to play around with the "Taps" section. Particularly try disabling "two-finger-tab" as it can often get misinterpreted when two-finger scrolling. Also try using "Short Delay" on "Taps" and if you don't use two-finger Zoom, disable it entirely.

Thank you for clearing that up for me. I was calibrating my screen with Quick Gamma and didn't know if I should use the Intel or the Nvidia card for the contrast/brightness. I'm glad that everything is working like it should in that department. Although, I'm getting some banding in gradients when I look at quick tests online. Is that normal for this card?

I did and haven't had that problem since. Thank you for that information. The screen is stable for the most part.

No. Nothing. I even updated the driver again through the Clevo site. I feel like smacking it lol

I'm sorry for being such a pest, but I do appreciate you guys trying to help me. Thank you!

Which display did you get? Depending on the panel the banding could be caused by dithering.

Can you post a link to the specific test and picture of the screen?

    No problem.

    http://www.lagom.nl/lcd-test/gradient.php

There's a little banding, but there are these thin white lines above the black sections. I don't know if that's normal. The picture of what it's suppose to look like doesn't have those.

Taking a close up picture of the pixels with your phone can let you take a closer look.
