I usually look at new laptops from time to time and noticed that they have some new laptops that are around 1000 dollars and they both look very similar besides the screen size. Is there any performance difference that people may know. which is more cooler? are theses laptops good enough that spending another 100 bucks won't get me a better one by miles? also how come there is no options to change processors or GPU? is it not customizable?

Unfortunately I couldn't justify an investment on one of these either. For 100-200 more you'll get a Clevo P650, made of better material, twice as fast GPU.

I wished it weren't that way. NBC has made a review about the N150SD which is similar to the N155SD. The cooling supposed to be great and the fan noise one of the lowest (!). Also it still has a DVD drive which can come in handy.

But it didn't convince me either. If it had a better GPU or was made of metal - I'd find them worthy a purchase. But as it offers neither of these... can't recommend it.

The differnce between those two really is just the screen size. Sager offers a 15.6" and 17.3" of many of their models, these are following suite.

Would someone open a Owners Lounge for these two models....

    Below is an example.... :)

Why does it say on the Pro-Star website that the N155 (not the N150) has an MXM 3.0 slot? Does that mean it has an upgradeable GPU?

Also, does anyone know if the N155 has a metal chassis on the palm rest? It does almost look like a Clevo P650.

EDIT: trying to summon @Prostar Computer , as I have seen they got a video on youtube. Maybe they can clear up any of these questions?

    bump?

Somebody must know something, otherwise I assume there is no interest in selling these laptops anyways...

These models DO NOT have a MXM slot. The GPU is part of the motherboard and is not upgradable. Sorry.

Also it is not a metal finish. It is a quality standard finish. See pic...

By "miles," no. The difference is essentially screen size (as well as overall size and weight). The GPU and CPU cannot be changed because they are not removable (they're mounted to the main board).

Looks like someone made a mistake on the info page for that model on our site. :vboops: It does NOT have an MXM GPU.

Ah thanks nevermind, at least it's cleared up now :)

PS: I know I repeat myself, but the chassis still looks like it is made of metal on the picture. When having the N155SD or a picture of the P651SE, both of them are black, matt and a bit shiny. By the pure looks of it I couldn't say what material it is. Is it really plastic, and not something like a carbon or magnesium alloy? The finish just looks different and higher quality than the plastic/softtouch of the N150.

It's a mixture of aluminum and plastic: http://www.notebookreview.com/notebookreview/eurocom-m5-pro-review-clevo-p650se/

Huh, that is not what I meant to post...

The N155 is indeed plastic (I realize looks are a little deceiving at first glance). Apologies for the mix up on that last post!

The problem is, that these models are not attractive in price/performance ratio. So no wonders, that this thread doesn't exist. If they offered a 965m graphics, it would be much more attractive. Hence, I'd buy one right now (though only the N150 is available in my country).

While it has shrunk in size compared to the W355SDQ, it hasn't grown in performance (enthusiasts know that the 960m is a rebrand of the 860m). Yet it comes with an additional +200$ price tag. Too much for what it delivers. If the sales are great, despite my assumptions, then let me be mistaken. The signs indicate otherwise. I can only see 2 outcomes: either the hardware is upgraded, or the price is reduced about 200$.
