Is it normal having to hold the power button down for a second to get it to power up? Simply pressing the button doesn't do anything.

    Thanks

you only normally have to do that for a second or two while running on battery.
when mains is plugged in its a quick press.

Helps with accidentally pressing it :) Also it might be a different scheme for monitoring the buttons to increase sleep battery life.
