Hello, thanks for your help in advance

    Sager NP7352;
My backlit keyboard works, but many of the colors are either wrong (Yellow = Red/ White = Purple) or some don't work at all (The color turns off completely)

The sections of my keyboard can be changed successfully, but like I said, many of the colors are just off or wrong. Any idea why this would be?

Which version of Windows are you running and do you know the version of the BIOS and EC firmware you're running?

I'm unsure which BIOS I'm running.. what is EC Firmware? I'm not an idiot at hardware, just never had to deal with "EC" tbh.

I'm on Windows 8.1 currently. It was like this when I originally received it from XoticPC but they told me this along with dead/stuck pixels on the monitor were not covered in replacement terms regardless of being like that on arrival. IDK, they suggested I take it apart and try plugging the keyboard back in. Is this difficult and would that even help?

Why don´t you try to update Hotkey software??? I had to install a new version on w8.1 so that it worked well.
    Cheers

I've tried that and just updated to the newest Hotkey software meant for 8.1. Still the same tbh

the yellow color is actually red, white is purple... green doesn't work at all. Alot of the colors are just doubles of eachother or just don't work at all.

Noone has ever had this problem?

You can find out which version of each you're running by tapping - or holding - F2 as the computer is booting. This will bring you into the BIOS setup. The first page shows your BIOS version and EC Firmware version (EC = embedded controller).

I believe the EC firmware is responsible (in part) for the keyboard backlight behavior.

Checking the cable might help, just make certain that you're checking the right cable. The smaller, usually brown cable to the left is the one that powers the LEDs. :)

You might have to have the keyboard replaced if the LEDs themselves are the problem.

Okay, thanks! I'm going to check the EC firmware version!

I'll reply back with that info, I appreciate your help very much. I wish the site I bought it from was this helpful.

Have you checked it against the bios thread or the clevo website?

    The latest versions should be:

    BIOS: 1.03.02
    EC: 1.03.02

Had to dig a little to find out. :) You might want to double check with Sager - or whoever your reseller is - on whether they can provide that update. If it's not that, it's the keyboard itself.

It varies by seller and model. They are usually starting right around $50 for a non backlit keyboard, while the backlit ones range up to closer to $100.
